Summary:

Under general supervision, designs and implements processes and solutions associated with a wide variety of data sets used for data/text mining, analysis to enable informed business decisions. Gains insight into key business problems and deliverables by applying statistical analysis techniques to examine structured and unstructured data from multiple disparate sources. Uses current and emerging technologies to evaluate trends and develop actionable insights and recommendations to management, via an increasing understanding of the business model and the information available for analysis. Typically uses data, statistical and quantitative analysis, and fact-based management to drive decision-making.

The Analytics team drives insights into every aspect of our business and supports a wide variety of organizational stakeholders. The Data Analyst role will be a critical member of the Analytics team, working directly with stakeholders including Product, Marketing, Engineering, Design, and more.

We are looking for a curious and enthusiastic analyst with great communication skills to join our lean and agile team.  You should be comfortable with ambiguity and have experience using data to tell stories to technical and non-technical audiences. This role, reporting to a manager of Product Analytics, will leverage skills in SQL, data visualization, and storytelling to measure product effectiveness and help leaders make data-informed product decisions.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Design and/or Account teams to ensure that we are tracking the right metrics to measure product effectiveness
  • Help build data pipelines and analyses (using dashboarding and ETL tools) to transform raw data into useful datasets and dashboards
  • Define and document requirements for tracking user touchpoints with ShopRunner products
  • Contribute to ongoing and programmatic quality assurance of data sources
  • Contribute to other analysts’ growth by sharing your skills and processes


Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
Required:

  • 2+ years of data analyst experience, with a track record of initiating, executing, and communicating project work to diverse audiences
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a technical field like Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Business Analytics
  • Experience with complex SQL queries on large data sets
  • Experience with data visualization tools, like Looker, Tableau, or Power BI
  • Willingness to gather requirements to process messy, non-standardized or unstructured data
  • Eagerness to tackle ambiguous problems in a fast-paced startup culture


Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience working as part of a cross-functional team
  • Experience working with programming languages (e.g. Python, R)
  • Experience using statistical concepts for analysis
  • Experience designing, monitoring, and evaluating online experiments


Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, engineering, operations research, economics or Finance. Two (2) years work experience in measurement and analysis, quantitative business problem solving, operations analysis, marketing analysis, simulation development and/or predictive analytics. Proficient in analytics software and applications. Good interpersonal skills. Good written and oral communication skills.
