Apploi is hiring a data engineer to work remotely or in our office in NYC.
Our data analytics warehouse and pipleline/engine is built on Redshift, dbt, Sisense, FiveTran, and Segment.
Core job responsibilities:
- Building dashboards using Sisense.
- Event planning and schema design using Segment protocols with Apploi's product manager.
- Engaging with the product team and analyzing user behavior to help create report requirements.
- Data modeling using SQL and dbt.
- Refactoring dbt models to improve performance.
- Automating tests with dbt including behavioural tests.
- Proactive monitoring using dbt cloud.
- Writing Python code to optimize our data infrastructure.
- Playing a critical part in the evaluation and possible migration to Snowflake.
You will also have the opportunity to work with our senior engineers on advanced SQL, such as performance tuning and re-usability using correlated subqueries, subselects, and Jinja dbt macros. Furthermore, the position includes working with other engineers to constantly optimize of our development pipeline (staging → production) using dbt, Redshift schemas, and Sisense ElasticCubes
The rest of microservices architecture consists of Python, Django, React.js, Reflect automated testing, Heroku, CodeClimate, and ElasticSearch.
You are a good fit for this position if you
- Have a solid understanding of data warehouses and business intelligence tools.
- Have more than two years of experience with a BI tool like Sisense, Looker, Tableau, etc. at an ecommerce or SaaS company.
- Have used dbt and follow the dbt community.
- Are proficient in SQL.
- Have experience using the command line and git.
- Have experience with Redshift, PostgreSQL, or Snowflake.
- Have used Python, Ruby, or JavaScript.
- Can communicate clearly and directly.
