POSITION: Data Engineer

REPORTING TO:

Data Scientist

LOCATION: Flexible (Remote or a hybrid schedule in one of Candid’s offices in New York, NY; Atlanta, GA; Cleveland, OH; Washington D.C.; or Williamsburg, VA)

POSITION SUMMARY

The Data Engineer will work with the Data Science team, along with other programmers and analysts at Candid to build scalable data processing pipelines, improve and maintain our statistical and machine learning models, and create tools to visualize data and model outputs so that internal staff can easily understand and participate in ongoing improvements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with other data scientists on an agile team to define and execute data science solutions.
• Perform data wrangling to extract exploratory insights. 
• Create and maintain data pipeline architecture. 
• Create and maintain continuous integration configurations. 
• Assist with deployments of machine learning applications. 
• Communicate results of any analyses and experiments. 
• Create reporting and data visualization tools.

REQUIREMENTS

• Proficiency with Python for data processing and analysis using NumPy/SciPy/Pandas; experience with NetworkX is a plus. 
• Experience building scalable processing pipelines on AWS; experience with container services, and serverless architectures is a plus. 
• Experience with SQL, NoSQL, Elasticsearch; graph database experience is a plus .
• Experience creating data visualizations and doing exploratory data analysis. 
• Interest in machine learning and natural language processing (NLP) is a plus. 
• Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets. 
• Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement. 
• Willingness to perform other duties and special projects as needed. 
• College degree strongly preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.
