About the Role

The Marketplace team is responsible for all levers that power and drive Dolly’s business with the overarching objective of matching supply and demand at the right price. Living at the intersection between Dolly’s core software products/engineering, and business functions, at the heart of the Marketplace team is Dolly’s data. As a Data Engineer you will own two way integration processes between source systems of record and the organization’s data lake / data access layer, including tool based integrations and any custom integrations needed. As a part of the core data team you’ll work closely with analytics engineers to help improve general query performance, manage access patterns and permissions, as well as contribute to in-lake and downstream data operations, initial refinements, and process orchestration.

This role reports to the Senior Director of Marketplace and Analytics.

As a Data Engineer at Dolly, you will:

  • Set up, deploy and maintain efficient extract and load operations from a wide variety of data sources using ELT tooling, and Reverse ETL tooling
  • Develop scalable and efficient custom EL and reverse EL processes when needed
  • Set up and maintain / respond to monitoring of extraction and load process pipelines (and reverse ETL pipelines) 
  • Design and deploy data storage and table structures responsive to frequent access patterns ensuring query optimization and speed of access for visualization tooling
  • Provide administrative support for security in the data lake including data masking, encryption, and access control
  • Configure and maintain process orchestration in-lake for interdependent transformations
  • Support Analytics Engineering in development, deployment and maintenance of data quality processes
  • Provide support to Analytics Engineering in developing performant, scalable code for Dolly’s in-lake/warehouse transformation layer

This position requires:

  • Expertise in SQL (5 years),
  • Experience with Spark (Scala or Python), Spark SQL (4 years)
  • Experience in ELT/ETL tools (Fivetran, Stitch, Arirbyte, etc) (3 years) 
  • Experience developing efficient custom extraction and load processes against external REST APIs (4 years)
  • Experience AWS cloud computing environments (4 years)
  • Experience with git / VCS (4 years)
  • Exposure to dimensional modeling and SCD2 use cases (2 years)
  • Exposure to design and implementation of data quality assurance and monitoring processes (2 years)
  • Commitment to data process development with a relentless focus on transparency, quality, efficiency and resilience

Bonus points for any of the following:

  • Experience in analytics engineering
  • Experience with Databricks
  • Experience with analytical APIs
  • Experience with development and production deployment processes for predictive models and associated learning processes.
  • Experience actively supporting ongoing business intelligence processes and dashboarding/visualization
  • Startup experience
  • Marketplace experience
