Paper is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join the growing R&D and analytics team. The Intermediate Data Engineer will play a crucial role in the data usability from various source systems, integrating and modelling data correctly. This role requires a candidate with good people skills, excellent leadership, and the ability to perform hands-on work while being naturally skilled in communication and teamwork. You will be the point of contact for various senior stakeholders in the company, managing their data needs and expectations, thus enabling data-driven decisions with significant business impact. This position can be located in any geography in the US or Canada.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze upcoming data requirements and perform risk analysis.
  • Develop test plans for source data, analytics/reports, and data pipeline.
  • Execute test plans and record progress and results.
  • Perform manual/automated testing in GCP for streaming/batch data processes.
  • Review dashboards/reports for consistency, freshness and accuracy.
  • Continuously evaluate and drive innovations in our overall testing processes.
  • Uphold and embody Paper’s mission, vision, and values.

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years experience as a Big Data Engineer previously.
  • Exposure to both batch and streaming data processing pipelines.
  • Strong SQL and Python skills.
  • Experience with tools similar to DBT/Great Expectations/Monte Carlo is a plus.
  • Experience with event-driven architecture and technologies similar to PubSub, Dataflow, BigQuery, Data Modelling, PHP is a plus.
  • Experience in developing test plans, assessing risk, filing appropriate defects, and providing relevant data for test reporting.
  • Knowledge of SDLC, testing methodologies tools & shell scripting.
  • Understanding of software quality metrics.
  • Experience with continuous integration systems such as Jenkins, CircleCi, etc.
  • Ability to analyze and triage problems, prioritize accordingly, and propose a resolution.
  • Ability to work independently, raise issues and take corrective action.
