About the Job

You will be a member of the Data Group: Data Analytics, Data Science, Machine Learning and Data Engineering. We are a force multiplier, owning the data, analysis, and knowledge infrastructure that enables ourselves and our teammates to move faster and smarter.

The Data Engineering team’s mission is to ingest data, build ETL/ELT pipelines and create services and tools for others to use data more efficiently. You will work on developing and enhancing our data warehouse, supporting processes for data monitoring and alerting as well as maintaining data integrity in our data ecosystem. You will work with the Data Engineering team to build solutions to meet the requirements of both the Data Group and other TaskRabbit functional units. You will work with other data engineers to ensure that our data platform and infrastructure are scalable and reliable.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Data Engineering team on data engineering projects that improve data availability and quality, and provide reliable access to data for the rest of the business.
  • Support new and existing data and ETL pipelines and recommend improvements and modifications.
  • Working with data engineering team members, create optimal data pipelines and systems.
  • Assemble data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements.
  • Be responsible for ingesting data into our data warehouse and providing frameworks and services for operating on that data 
  • Help analyze, debug and correct issues with data pipelines
  • Learn to build and maintain data models that support the entire data team as well as other business units.
  • Help build the infrastructure and processes required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading (both ETL and ELT) of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL, Python, AWS and other tools and technologies.
  • Gain an understanding of machine learning models and how they are deployed all the way to production.

 

Qualifications:

  • Have at least 1 year of experience implementing ETL pipelines preferably using platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, Hadoop or Spark
  • Experience writing SQL and/or Python ETL/ELT processes
  • Strong coding and design skills, particularly in SQL and Python
  • Have hands-on experience with AWS and services like EC2, Glue, RDS, etc.
  • You have a BS in Computer Science / Software Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Have a good understanding and usage of algorithms and data structures
