About Us
Leap’s mission is to combat climate change by enabling a reliable electric grid that runs on clean energy. The electric grid is transforming from dirty (but predictable) fossil fuels to clean (but less predictable) renewable energy. To do so, the grid needs more flexible demand and supply to help maintain stability and reliability.
Leap plays a crucial role in opening up wholesale energy markets to all distributed energy resources, enabling our partners to get paid for providing flexibility to the grid.
Leap is a privately-held tech company with funding from top VCs and well-known energy entrepreneurs. Our core operations are in the San Francisco Bay Area and Utrecht (NL), but we are a distributed workplace with teammates based in Atlanta, Boston, Boulder, Chicago, Maui, and Washington, DC.
Who are we looking for?
You are an entrepreneurial individual who will lead our data-engineering team. You have the motivation and skills to manage and work with data engineers and build a platform and product that makes a difference in the world. You enjoy working with and interacting with other parts of the company, including product, data scientists, and analysts.
This role reports to the Senior Director of Engineering.
As the data engineering manager, you will
- Manage data engineers by coaching them throughout their careers
- Initiate discussions and maintain contact with stakeholders
- Collaborate with different teams in the company including product and business teams
- Extend and think about processes and culture to support analysts
- Find a balance between delivering features and solving technical dept
- Discuss and form a long-term vision together with the team and manage the process to implement it
- Recruit great talent to make the team even stronger
You are someone who has
- Demonstrated experience in leading a (data)engineering team
- a technical background and hands-on experience in data engineering
- Understanding of data science and ML-ops concepts
- A continuous learning mindset, keeping up with the fast-evolving data landscape.
