As a Data Quality Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data within our organization. You will be responsible for developing and implementing data quality standards, processes, and procedures to enhance the overall quality of our data assets. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will identify and address data quality issues, establish data quality metrics, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This will enable Thrivent to better understand and rely on data to drive strategic priorities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development and execution of the Data Governance Framework and Strategy
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data quality strategy aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Establish data quality frameworks, policies, and standards.
  • Conduct regular assessments of data quality to identify discrepancies, inconsistencies, and inaccuracies.
  • Collaborate with business units to define and validate data quality requirements.
  • Implement data profiling techniques to analyze and monitor data quality across various systems.
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure and report on data quality.
  • Prepare regular reports for stakeholders, highlighting data quality trends, issues, and improvements.
  • Collaborate with data owners and stakeholders to implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct training sessions to educate teams on data quality best practices and the importance of maintaining high-quality data.
  • Foster a data quality culture across the organization.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve data quality issues and implement preventive measures.
  • Creates visible scorecards, dashboards, and metrics to align direction and progress toward data consistency and reliable, known sources of truth
  • Develops and deliver presentations for department and senior leadership.
  • Facilitates change management processes and tasks
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Scope – In Terms of Financial Indicators

  • Oversee and direct efforts to identify data governance solutions that enable business needs and strategies.
  • Apply expertise in data governance to effectively advise others on data governance and data management as enabler
  • Influence direction around data governance efforts and technology
  • Provide thought leadership and execution to large complex efforts to ensure alignment across multiple business and IT areas
  • Proactively mitigate risks across multiple programs, projects, technologies and platforms
  • Direct the work of others to lead data governance initiatives in alignment with data governance policies
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and data governance guidance to others to drive initiatives

Required Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Finance or Information Systems, or equivalent
  • 8+ years of professional experience in related positions working with data, integrations or databases including 3+ years prior lead experience
  • 4 to 6 years of experience in data governance disciplines: metadata management; data quality analysis; data quality remediation; data profiling and data lineage and business intelligence and data architecture.
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in all phases of data lifecycle
  • Strong organizational, analytical and critical thinking and leadership skills
  • Understanding of enterprise information management and data management principles
  • Experience managing metadata in a repository or supporting a data management program
  • Experience with industry leading metadata and data quality tools
  • Knowledge of data governance industry best practices, including governance structures and frameworks
  • Experience in developing and implementing data governance policies, processes and standards
  • Ability to facilitate small group (up to 20) discussion and decision making
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to deal with multiple and sometimes conflicting personal agendas
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, ability to tailor messages to different levels of the business, and interact with all levels and functions within an organization
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities, identify and deliver on critical tasks, while ensuring quality, professional work and maintaining high standards
  • Ability to navigate and work effectively in a dynamic environment, maintaining strong relationships across functional teams
  • Ability to apply good discretion and exercise judgement
  • Ability to work independently with light to moderate supervision in various areas of responsibility
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office desktop tools (Word, Excel, etc.)

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree or equivalent in MIS, Computer Science or related field
  • Experience with financial services preferred
  • Understanding of Thrivent’s Technology capabilities
