We are looking for a creative and collaborative Data Science intern to accelerate machine learning at Coursera. During this full-time 16-week internship program, you will be embedded as a full-time member of our Data Science team and paired with a mentor. You will work on real features, updates, and launches that will affect 82+ million learners worldwide!

This internship will run from August 30 - December 17. It will be fully remote, but you will need to work remotely from one of the following Canadian provinces: Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan. We will begin reviewing applications on May 24.

Responsibilities

    • Build, deploy, and test machine learning models that improve the learning experience on Coursera
    • Collaborate with Engineers, Product Managers, and other Data Scientists to identify opportunities
    • Develop metrics that evaluate performance of data products
    • Distill insights from complex data, communicating findings to technical and non-technical audiences

Basic Qualifications

    • Pursuing a degree  in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or related field (recent graduates also welcome to apply)

Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with at least one scripting language (e.g. Python)
    • Experience with at least one statistical software package (e.g. R, NumPy/SciPy/Pandas)
    • Background in machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit Learn, etc.
    • Experience with relational databases and SQL
    • Project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
