The Data Science Manager is responsible for planning and implementing long-term strategies around developing and maintaining comprehensive customer and prospect databases, which can be leveraged for various purposes including servicing, marketing, operational streamlining, and customer support. This role will also interact heavily with Business Intelligence analysts seeking to access and utilize the data for approved purposes such as generating analytical insights and provide strategic direction to senior management. This position is expected to play a key role in supporting development of databases, models, insights, and data intelligence that supports marketing programs, marketing list execution, and customer analytics.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning, developing, and maintaining data environments that enable complex business analytics
  • Managing a team of technical staff members with backgrounds in IT, databases, and statistics
  • Developing long-term strategic plans to improve the data environment by adding data streams, functionality, tools, and cost efficiencies
  • Documenting the data environment and communicating regarding status and plans with senior management

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Ability to manage diverse teams with backgrounds in statistics, database development/maintenance, and information technology to build, deploy, and utilize BI systems
  • Ability to build business cases and secure resources from upper management for BI projects that will drive increased efficiency and growth
  • Ability to successfully communicate analytic results, business insights, and resulting business implications to non-technical business partners
  • 7+ years of experience in SQL programming and use of BI tools to derive business insights
  • Experience with data security and information security audits
  • Ability to thrive in a fast pace work environment supporting multiple projects for a variety of stakeholders subject to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Effectively communicates, both verbal and in writing, with technical and business teams.
  • Proven ability to apply understanding of data architecture, relational database design principles, and software development life-cycle to create and support business intelligence solutions.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in Analytics/Database Marketing
  • Strong programming skills and ability to utilize a variety of data/analytic software languages/tools (e.g., SQL, Oracle, JIRA, SAS, etc.)
  • Proven track record of product development

Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials:

  • Bachelors degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related field required
  • Masters degree in Statistics or beyond preferred

Hour and Work Schedule:

Hours per week: 40

Work Schedule: 8:00-5:00
