The Senior Data Scientist will be responsible for developing a wide range of analytical functions, potentially including but not limited to: machine learning, developing statistical models, identifying new opportunities and process improvements, and providing analytical insights and strategic direction to stakeholders, all in service of enhancing the customer experience.

As a Sr. Data Scientist, you will work alongside other Senior and Principal Data Scientists and subject matter experts to collect, organize, and prepare data, and to develop and analyze models, as well as to provide data-driven insights to the Collections and Recovery team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently develop and implement highly-performant models using a variety of tools
  • Build relationships with the business line to access and interpret data sources, and identify process improvement opportunities
  • Apply appropriate quantitative techniques such as exploratory data analysis, regression analysis, supervised and unsupervised learning, feature engineering, statistical sampling, and data visualization
  • Document and communicate analytic insights for both technical and non-technical audiences, often within an Agile framework
  • Design prototypes and perform ad hoc analysis for new analytical outputs like graphs, model scores, etc.
  • Prepare model documentation and respond to effective challenges from model validation, internal audit, and regulatory reviews; oversee the tracking and execution of all external and internal validation findings related to vendor and internally developed models
  • Support ad-hoc requests from the line of business by understanding, communicating, and managing model risks

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience

  • 4-6 years of work experience in data modeling, statistical analysis, and relevant computing requirements
  • Experience in producing documentation in a highly regulated environment
  • Strong experience in Python, R, SQL  to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
  • Strong verbal communication skills required with an ability to successfully communicate analytic results, business insights, and resulting business implications to non-technical business partners
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues who have a background in statistics, database development/maintenance, or information technology
  • Experience working on the Collections model is a plus

Education

  • Master's Degree or higher in Statistics/Mathematics/Computer Science
