We are looking for a business-minded data scientist to work with the marketing and customer success teams with high-impact, high-profile projects. For example, you will help to quantify the value of Zipline for our biggest customers and share your analysis and insights in business review meetings. You will also work side-by-side with our marketing strategist to uncover the insights that make it easy for our sales team to sell the value of Zipline through cold, hard data.

There are many data scientist roles out there but at Zipline, your work will help improve the lives of retail associates. Retail is one of America's most populous workforces but also one of the most underserved. Through Zipline’s cutting-edge retail operations platform, we can touch one in four American workers and help them feel more connected to their brand’s mission, understand what’s expected of them, and be more successful in their jobs.
You will be part of a small group of data scientists, reporting to the product organization. In other words, you will have colleagues to learn from and grow with. Our ideal candidate is both a creative and quantitative thinker, familiar with the business side of SaaS companies but experienced in, yes, data science. We need somebody who has an infectious enthusiasm for finding answers in data.
Responsibilities:
- Partner across the company (Product, Marketing, Customer Success, and Sales) to shape how we drive impact driven by data
- Identify and run the right analyses and methodologies to apply in different projects, analyze and challenge the results, and develop the insights and narratives that explain the business impact on our customers and ourselves
- Synthesize and present complex information to technical and business stakeholders at various levels of the organization
- Help evangelize evidence-based decision making
- Design presentations and present complex data sets in a variety of visually compelling formats
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in analytics and data science with a focus on driving business impact in technology, engineering, consulting or relative work experience
- Experience across a broad set of statistical and machine learning methods to build descriptive and predictive models
- Proficiency in data extraction and manipulation in data warehouse systems e.g. BigQuery using SQL
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g. Python, R)
- Proficiency in at least one analytics & visualization tool (e.g. Tableau)
- Excellent presentation skills and comfort in front of C-level executives
- Experience collaborating with less technical colleagues, translating data-driven insights into decisions and actions
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced environment
- Organized and solution-oriented mindset with a can-do attitude to overcome challenges
- Team player with solid interpersonal skills

How do we work? Remotely. We have been 100% remote since the company was founded and we have it down to a science - - a people science. We huddle as a team weekly and as a company 3 times a week. On Fridays, we come together to learn from each other. One week it might be about opossum rescue. Another week it might be an update on our product roadmap or the results of our customer satisfaction survey. We are all masters of Zoom and love the freedom of working from home - - or vans - - or sailboats.
