👋 Hi, I’m John - Data Team Manager here at Dwolla. I’m looking for an analytical, empathetic data scientist who loves diving deep into data preparation and analytics while working in a fast-paced, collaborative, diverse Engineering team.
Here is what you can expect to work on in this critical role:
You’ll be responsible for the collection, cataloging, analysis and interpretation of data for the business. This includes optimizing the achievement of business objectives through developing and presenting rigorous analyses of information.
You’ll also develop approaches to generate and statistically validate hypotheses about critical metrics and indicators; design and implement algorithms to generate reporting and alerting (potentially client-facing or leveraging machine learning), and collaborate with our data analysts & engineers, Salesforce administrators, web developers, and Product engineers.
How do our Data Scientists spend their time?
You can expect to spend about 80% of your time on data preparation and clean-up (roughly 20% data collection, 50% cleaning and organizing data and 10% data catalog implementation and maintenance). The remaining 20% of your time will be spent with data modeling, mining and analysis (building training sets, mining data patterns and refining algorithms).
Our team values collaboration, a passion for learning and a desire to become a master of your craft. We thrive in asynchronous communication. You will have a lot of support from leadership when you communicate proactively with detailed information about any roadblocks you may encounter.

🏆 Although the nature of this work is fairly individualist, the ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders is vital (and we really love it when team members are active participants in our meetings).
