Director, Data & Analytics

This position will report to the CIO and be focused on enterprise data and analytics for Five9’s corporate business systems and infrastructure.

You will enable business and IT leaders to make data-driven investment decisions that balance and prioritize current operational demands, disruptions, and opportunities with the longer-term strategic vision of the organization.
You should be a team player with the right combination of tactical and strategic execution. You bring deep experience defining and implementing an Enterprise Data Program practice as an essential capability for strategic decision making in a fast-paced environment. You leverage high analytical, collaboration and influencing skills to work with all levels of management and their teams to help shape Five9’s next generation of Data Platform and solutions. You are both a leader and a hands-on contributor.
Responsibilities
- Define, manage, and execute a comprehensive data program with a focus on measuring, improving, and reporting on the data quality and business value of those programs.
- Own the data infrastructure, analytical outputs, prioritization and roadmap initiatives. Partner with business leaders to determine and prioritize delivery initiatives.
- Own the data quality, understandability, and reporting of key data metrics from ingestion to modeling and reporting.
- Work with Enterprise Architecture to design data platform architecture and build solutions using standard pre-defined data technologies like GCP, Domo, etc. Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
- Drive initiatives to ensure that data is managed consistently in line with business strategies and requirements. Will be responsible for design and delivery of data solutions using data platform architecture and tech standards.
- Devise, Lead and execute continual improvement initiatives in all Data Management Service delivery and technology, with a focus on delivery velocity and quality.
- Define or influence system, technical and application architectures for major areas of development.
- Engage with business partners to report (formally and informally) on technology strengths, weaknesses, successes, and challenges on a regular basis.
- Should be an individual with in-depth technical knowledge and hands-on experience in the areas of Data Management, BI Architecture, Data Quality, Data Governance and Data Architecture.
- Should have excellent analytical skills, able to recognize data patterns and troubleshoot the data.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders across the company to understand and prioritize their demand.
- Grow a team of data engineers, analytics engineers and data scientists; responsible for delivering high quality and actionable data, dashboards, analysis, and toolset.
Position Requirements
- 10+ years of experience of building and maintaining Big Data/ Data Warehouse solutions, BI applications, and data management processes including Data quality and governance.
- 5+ years of relevant experience architecting and delivering the complete end to end design of enterprise-wide solution using data technologies – GCP Suite, Databricks, Domo, Python, Core Java and similar.
- 5 years of experience in SQL Python, Core Java, GCP Suite, Rest API, Microservices, etc.
- 2 years of experience in AI & ML Methodologies
- Experience with data modeling, complex data structures, data processing, data quality and data lifecycle
- Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
- Experience building and optimizing 'big data' data pipelines, architectures, and data sets.
- Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to provide solutions for specific business requirements.
- Should be able to lead critical aspects of the data management and application management.
- Experience in large scale server-side application development that includes the design and implementation of high-volume data processing jobs.
- Experience championing, educating, building adoption for an enterprise data program; exceptional communication skills; ability to translate business problems into data opportunities that inspire the business.

This role is fully remote for candidates who reside at least 50 miles away from our San Francisco or San Ramon office locations. For candidates who reside within 50 miles of our San Francisco or San Ramon locations, this role will be Hybrid.
