Outrider is in search of a Senior Director of Data Infrastructure and Cloud Operations to lead two engineering teams: Cloud Platform and Data Engineering. This role reports to the SVP of Software Engineering. If you’re a pro at designing, building, and deploying data solutions, and have experience recruiting, leading, developing, and motivating engineers motivated and projects on schedule, this could be the role for you!

This role will be responsible for the leadership and management of two different Engineering teams - the Cloud Platform and Data Engineering teams. The Cloud Platform team provides service and support for the Cloud Applications, Platform & Infrastructure, and CV/ML teams. The Data team supports data engineering, data analytics, and data science needs across the organization. This team works with the Engineering, Test Engineering, Commercial, and Product teams to gather requirements around data collection, offload, storage, analysis, and data science needs.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead the Cloud Operations team:
• Public cloud platform management and operations (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Hybrid cloud management and operations
• Influence the direction of the customer provisioning and enablement process, from data ingest from the customer to data presentation
• Infrastructure-as-Code processes and templates
• Web server hosting, scaling, reliability
• Database / Cache hosting, scaling, reliability
• Work across the organization to define and implement requirements to support cloud-based configuration management and monitoring (getting new versions/configs onto vehicles)
• Security engineering, including tooling, systemization, and support for developers
• Supporting ‘secure boot’ feature development, when practical
• DevOps tooling and processes including CI/CD, automation, and cloud software releasing to support an agile software development life cycle
• IoT connectivity and infrastructure management and operations (Rocos)
• Site reliability engineering (SRE)
• Implementation of InfoSec controls and management
• Serverless infrastructure
• Customer-facing access controls (Okta)
• Automate the data collection pipeline to achieve maximum levels of efficiency, user satisfaction, and cost effectiveness
• Lead the Data team:
• Data pipelines, ELT/ETL data warehouses
• Support the evolution of the underlying data architecture needed to understand, report on, and help improve system performance
• Drive development for onboard data reporting and onboard data management
• Data lake management, curation, process definition and policies
• Data catalog
• IoT streaming pipeline
• Serverless data processing
• Vendor engagement and assessment for commercial off the shelf software and SaaS solutions
• Optimize simulation pipelines
• Deliver data, data products, and analyses to the company for both internal and external use
• Quantify Outrider system performance, track, and provide data-driven insights for both internal and external use 

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (Master’s degree preferred)
• 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams 
• 5+ years of experience in enterprise-level Cloud solutions
• Proven expertise managing full stack cloud applications, (UI/UX, APIs, data stores), backend and pipelines
• Well versed on Cloud architecture best practices
• Experienced with public cloud providers (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Familiar with Git and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
