The role
The Manager, Perception and ML will report directly to the Director of Perception and lead the day-to-day development of Outrider’s perception algorithms utilizing machine learning through all phases of pilot and deployment programs. This position requires expertise developing performant and reliable algorithms, strong testing experience, attention to detail, and the ability to learn in unstructured environments.

The Manager, Perception and ML will be instrumental in helping develop and refine the perception capabilities for a first-of-its-kind autonomous system designed for confined-area, industrial-grade autonomy. Outrider’s fully electric, SaaS-based driverless trucking solution relies on ruggedized perception software to enable a massively scalable fleet and reliable, round-the-clock operation.
This role is ideal for a talented engineer with people-management experience who wants to push confined-area, heavy-vehicle autonomy into hardened, high-volume production with minimal perception-related service issues. The opportunity offers a technical, hands-on engineer the chance to help develop a market-defining, enterprise-grade robotics product that combines autonomous vehicle technologies with a software-as-a-service (SaaS) business model.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about and expert in a variety of disciplines surrounding perception and has strong foundational skills from which to build upon. She or he embraces the idea of reducing the carbon footprint of our 'get-it-now' economy and is invigorated by our overarching mission to accelerate the adoption of zero-emission, self-driving vehicle technology.
