Our Service Data Science team supports Operations and Enterprise Experience and works closely with our product Data Science teams to optimize customer interactions and experience.  As a Director, you will play a significant role in partnering with leaders across functional areas to deliver modern and sustainable data science products generating meaningful outcomes for the enterprise.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of data engineers who create structured data sets and features for modeling and analysis and deploy data science assets into production.

• Lead the technical design of solutions, balancing a need to deliver and ensuring maintainability, reliability and scalability.

• Interpret business issues and recommend solutions / best practices.

• Navigate data warehouses and independently understand the data model and join disparate data sets to ensure quality and integrity.

• Use Enterprise GitHub for version control, documentation, code collaboration, and technical project management throughout the data science lifecycle.

• Provide thought leadership, acting as an internal technical consultant within data science community, IT, enterprise data teams and business customers.

Experience & Skills

• 7+ years of relevant experience in data engineering, data science and/or analytics in Insurance or Financial Services

• Experience managing technical professionals in project based environment

• Ability to design, implement and oversee processes focused on delivery of data science assets

• Advanced data engineering skills including Python and SQL

• Experience with Cloud (AWS) and Big data technologies.

• Proven communication skills; Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels across the organization in small and large groups

• Must be authorized to work in the US, now and in the future.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees.
