To further our progress toward our mission, we are looking for a Director, Mobile User Acquisition interested in driving high sustainable growth while solving financial inclusion. If you are an analytically-minded leader who wants to inspire a team of direct reports across Mexico, Philippines, Kenya & India, is passionate about delivering on acquisition targets within our target CaC and can build strong relationships across a broader global marketing team and core cross-functional stakeholders - then this role is for you.
2+ billion people worldwide are underestimated and hence underserved. This role needs someone who is incredibly solutions-oriented because there is a reason why so many people are underserved; the same old approaches don't work. This role needs someone who will keep the mission of Tala in mind, leverage their own powerful strengths in Performance Marketing in global digital and non-digital channels but adapt them, innovate and find ways to reach those who we, Tala, can serve.

What you'll do:

    • You own the goal of maximizing the number of new customers Tala is able to serve, sustainably. In mathematical terms, you own maximizing: [(New Customers * LTV/customer) - $ Spend].
    • You drive thought leadership each and every day with respect to answering questions like "how do I reach the people whose lives would be better when served by Tala?, how do I reach them in a scalable and sustainable way?, how do I successfully communicate the value Tala provides to them?"
    • You manage a team of user acquisition specialists that live across Mexico, Philippines, Kenya & India, being aware cultural nuances and able to manage across different timezone 
    • Understand the economics of each product and each channel thoroughly
    • Lay out a roadmap with business cases to take Tala from where it is today to where it can be given the potential; achieve goals along the way
    • Identify where leverage exists to improve, and then solve it
    • Drive continuous improvement through structured and rigorous optimization of creatives and messaging; leveraging data consistently to make the best decisions for the business
    • Partner with finance to forecast of new customers and marketing budgets 
    • Be point person for our Google Adwords and FB reps and leverage those relationships to continually improve our campaigns
    • Provide insights to our marketing teams in-country on overall UA strategy; and manage a team of UA specialists in each of the markets to driver day-to-day execution

Skills & Qualifications:

    • 7+ years of B2C performance marketing experience with several years of people management experience; having worked with global teams considered a plus
    • Extensive hands-on experience with mobile app install ads & mobile measurement
    • Strong analytical mindset; being able to find highest leverage point by analyzing data and communicate complex insights effectively; ROI focus
    • Able to think big picture while remaining close to the detail.
    • Willing to work across 4 time zones (Mexico, Philippines, India, Kenya)
    • Be a natural mentor & leader. Enjoy taking time to educate and uplift those around you. Have a bias for sharing and explaining to diverse teams so their potential can be unleashed in service of the broader goal. Able to inspire a global team.
    • Have a natural desire to learn about the countries we work in. Be curious, humble. Learn from any source possible. You are a sponge seeking new inputs.
    • Strong experience conceiving, testing, and optimizing ad creatives; able to identify most meaningful value propositions for acquisition ads and finding creative ways to articulate them in partnership with in-country marketing teams
    • Able to build a roadmap working backwards from goals and thinking in an unconstrained manner finding the points of highest leverage
    • Effective, proactive communicator. Leading team of UA specialists in each country and representing the user acquisition function / thinking in global projects 
    • Creative problem-solving acumen, with the analytical rigor to verify or invalidate assumptions

Salary range: $195,000- $225,000
