Job Overview

Roar Social is seeking an experienced and analytical Director of Business Intelligence and Research with a deep understanding of social media platforms. In this role, you will play a critical role in launching our cutting-edge, Gen Z-focused platform and be responsible for designing, building, and growing our business intelligence team and systems. We are looking for someone with extensive social media platform experience, expertise in building a Business Intelligence capability from scratch, and a background in startups.

The ideal candidate has a data-driven approach to understanding our rapidly evolving business and industry, leveraging market research and insights to drive transformational growth. You will manage all business intelligence and research, including the verification of externally sourced data, to support client meetings, partnership discussions, marketing initiatives, and market-related product/engineering decisions. Strong business and technical acumen is crucial, and you should be eager to roll up your sleeves and get the job done.

As the Director of Business Intelligence and Research, you will identify key trends through data manipulation and collaborate with various teams, such as business development, marketing, product, and legal. You will be detail-oriented and resourceful, utilizing multiple channels to gather valuable information. Additionally, you will maintain scalable reporting tools and applications, including dashboards and metrics, to keep key stakeholders up to date.

Stuff You’ll Work On

  • Ensure the highest level of data integrity, security, and confidentiality across the company, with a focus on social media platforms.
  • Lead the design, development, and governance of business intelligence and research systems and programs to meet the company's information needs.
  • Maintain the reliability, security, and availability of internally or externally-sourced data and research for reporting, analysis, and extraction.
  • Adopt best practices, new tools, and methodologies in data integrity, design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
  • Create compelling data dashboards and visualizations that effectively communicate the story of the business.
  • Stay informed about user trends, technologies, products, target markets, and competitors in the social media industry.
  • Oversee the creation and development of reporting processes that deliver accessible information for decision-making.
  • Lead and grow a team of business analysts, ensuring prioritization of projects to meet committed deliverables and on-demand requirements.
  • Implement the business intelligence and data strategy, organizational structure, and technical architecture.
  • Stay up to date with current data trends, tools, and tactics to formulate and execute recommendations that drive the business.
  • Promote data fluency throughout the company by creating intuitive dashboards and providing compelling business insights.
  • Thrive in an ambiguous startup environment, where you can take ownership of projects or teams.

Stuff You’ve Done

  • 6+ years of experience in business intelligence or analytics, preferably within the social media, tech, and/or entertainment industries.
  • Undergraduate degree (MBA, JD, or LLM preferred), equivalent work experience, or an equally compelling collection of non-academic life experiences.
  • Strong expertise in social media platform operations and supporting stakeholders in data-driven decision making.
  • Holds the highest standard for data integrity, security and confidentiality.
  • Strong expertise with business strategy and supporting stakeholders making data-driven decisions.
  • Creative and resourceful thinker with a strong aptitude for finding answers that may not be easily available.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, detail-oriented, comfortable with ambiguity, and are eager to roll up your sleeves to get the job done.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and storytelling skills with the ability to present complex concepts to audiences with varying degrees of technical acumen.
  • Understands best practices for common business intelligence and research design techniques.
  • Ability to effectively storytell, and adapt how you communicate to best reach and engage your audience.
  • Advanced skills in research and data analysis, with a proven ability to understand the big picture and connect all the dots.
  • High level of attention to detail including ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience with business intelligence and research tools (e.g., Power BI, Looker, Tableau, etc.)
  • Experience with CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Experience with App and Social Media tools (e.g., Amplitude)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to to synthesize research findings into tangible actions that
  • drive business outcomes.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, and comfortable leading and taking ownership of projects or teams.
  • Deep understanding of the social media industry and its audiences is a plus.

Base Salary: $95,000 - $140,000. At Roar Social, base pay is one part of our total compensation package. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on your skills, qualifications and experience.
