The Analytics Team is responsible for building and maintaining analytics tools and workflows to support the PrizePicks business across all departments — at the core of these operations is data. As the Director of Business Intelligence, you are responsible for setting the strategic vision for the Business Intelligence function, building a team of data analysts, business intelligence analysts and business intelligence developers to realize business value from our data, and laying the foundation of tooling and metrics for the finance, operations, executive and product teams at PrizePicks.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop, refine & lead the execution of the overall business intelligence strategy, org-growth, benchmarks, goals and operations.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align analytics efforts with overall company goals and identify opportunities for growth and operational excellence across the organization.
  • Lead the development and deployment of datasets, analytics models & reporting to derive insights from data touching but not limited to: executive reporting and insights, business performance, game operations performance, financial reconciliation, strategic finance, product development and performance, engineering & IT systems, government affairs and compliance.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for product, operations & broader business efforts, making strategic recommendations to leadership and leading cross-team discussions
  • Oversee the selection, implementation, and utilization of analytics and business intelligence tools and 3rd party datasets
  • Oversee the budget for the business intelligence department, ensuring effective resource allocation, collaborating closely with finance teams to track expenditures and ensure ROI on analytics investments. 
  • Grow and develop a team of data analysts, business intelligence analysts and business intelligence developers to execute on the business intelligence strategy and roadmap

What you have:

  • Over 7 years of proven experience in a leadership role, successfully managing and expanding a team of data analysts, business intelligence analysts, and developers within a business intelligence function.
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, data engineering, or a related field is required, with an advanced degree preferred.
  • Expertise in business intelligence tools and platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, and Looker, along with product analytics solutions like MixPanel and Amplitude; strong foundation in statistics and experimental methodologies, including A/B testing and geo-testing.
  • In-depth knowledge of data warehousing solutions (e.g., PostGres, BigQuery), data integration techniques (ELT/ETL), and data modeling techniques (DBT).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages, including SQL, Python, and Excel.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the sports gaming industry, focusing on customer psychology and the operational dynamics of gaming businesses.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills, allowing for effective analysis of complex data and systems to generate actionable insights.
  • Strong communication skills facilitate effective collaboration and influence among stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Highly organized, demonstrating exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proven track record of delivering large-scale marketing analytics projects on time and within budget.
  • Experience in scaling a business intelligence organization successfully.
  • Skilled in implementing data governance, ensuring compliance, and establishing best practices for reporting and insight development, including version control, quality assurance, and role-based access control (RBAC).

  • Anywhere in the US is fine but Atlanta would be preferred.
