So, what’s the role?

As an Insurance BI Analyst you will be a critical part of the growth and expansion of Kin Insurance. You will be responsible for the data & analytics for the Claims, Insurance, Legal and Compliance departments. You will work with internal leadership and assist in defining and structuring critical insurance reporting; collaborate with engineering to ingest, clean, and analyze data from multiple sources; and deliver actionable insights across multiple teams. You will be responsible for owning the one source of truth for claims and insurance product data along with the cadence and automation of this process.

A day in the life could include: 

  • Conduct deep-dive analysis, identify root causes of business trends through data, collaborate and formulate conclusions and recommendations
  • Help deliver comprehensive, optimized BI solutions in response to: changes in business practice, changes in regulation, other insurance landscape changes   
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable analytical tools, dashboards, and metrics that drive crucial decisions
  • Use analytics tools to monitor performance of new product launches and make recommendations to management on ways to resolve insurance process gaps and comply with industry standards monitoring
  • Be a key player in structuring an optimized plan of action to deliver comprehensive BI solutions across growth and profit initiatives
  • Validate insurance data for external reporting against accounting metrics and reports

I’ve got the skills… but do I have the necessary ones?

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s in Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 2+ years of professional work experience in Insurance, Compliance, Risk Management and/or Regulatory Reporting
  • Must have a data-centric and analytical background Excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written
  • Experience in highly regulated and fast paced environment
  • Technical Requirements: Intermediate SQL skills (proven track record to independently query data from disparate sources), Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, vLookup, Index/Match, Power Query, etc.) 

Bonus Points:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Insurance or Risk Management 
  • Experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, etc. Experience with advanced Looker development is highly desirable.
  • Experience in programming in R or Python is a plus 
  • Familiarity with ETL processes
  • Airflow experience
