Our project management organization (PMO) is growing! We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic Junior Business Analyst (BA). As a Junior BA at Levvel you must excel at communicating across teams and balancing priorities. You must be able to communicate engineering team concerns up and client concerns down, all while planning ahead and foreseeing potential blockers. You must also understand different technical components at a high level, and be able to effectively communicate them to the client.
As a Junior BA at Levvel, you will work to create, refine, and prioritize user stories according to best practices. The stories you create need to clearly and concisely convey details at a high enough level for the client while also capturing sufficient technical details and acceptance criteria for engineering teams. You will also work to not only maintain project documentation and process mapping that supports user stories, but also take the initiative to fill gaps or inefficiencies you may see.
As a Levvel Junior BA, you will work closely with other BAs and project leaders to determine blockers and coordinate sprint plans. You are empowered to speak up about risks you foresee and blockers you are facing. You will also work with engineering leads to refine user stories at a technical level and with the client to extract project requirements, tenaciously tracking down the answers you need. In your role, you will have the confidence to answer questions from other BAs and engineers, when and where requirements and technology intersect.
Within the first three months you will have familiarized yourself with the project deliverables and will have developed a deep story backlog with late-breaking blockers being kept to a minimum. You will have also positioned your work such that the client has a firm understanding of what your team is working on in each sprint, including your sprint goal. You will have built a strong relationship with your peers and with project leadership.
Within six months, as a successful Junior BA, you will have provided tangible benefit to the project through expanded project documentation that allow a greater level of product, project or process understanding, as well as have successfully executed multiple sprint plans. You will be speaking confidently about your engineering teams’ work in front of the client and able to both answer questions and accept feedback.
Responsibilities:
- Must have knowledge of business operations, processes and/or technology environments.
- Responsible for the analysis of business need(s), validation of assumptions, research of solutions, gathering of requirements, and design of processes, all in support of projects.
- Ability to gather and convert highly technical concepts and data into understandable, written narrative.
- Experience in working on multiple projects at the same time.
- Good time management skills; ability to set priorities, adapt to team needs and meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively at different levels within the organization.
- Previous success working in a dynamic environment with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Fluent in technology and strong knowledge of project and software development methodologies / techniques.
- Solid presentation, facilitation, interview, and workshop skills.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, adaptation and conflict-management skills.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years experience as a Business Analyst in a project-based environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years experience in related duties in a project-based environment
- 2+ years experience in consulting clients in a variety of business issues
- 2+ years IT experience in project, product, or operational roles
- Any experience modeling process flows and designing use cases would be a huge plus
- Any industry experience in Transportation and/or Logistics is preferable
- Understanding of backend technologies and how systems integrate is preferable, or the willingness to learn these
- Understanding of application architecture, and willingness to learn highly technical concepts
- Understanding of Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) 2.0 is preferable
- Understanding of Behavior Driven Development (BDD) is preferable
- Understanding of scaled Agile frameworks is preferable
- Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle is preferable
- Familiarity with the G Suite / Google Workspace is preferable
- Familiarity with Agile work management tools (e.g. Rally, Jira) is preferable
