Machine Learning Engineer (Remote):

Wurl is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented data scientist who is passionate about discovering new trends with big data. Wurl’s position in the video and ad delivery ecosystem enables detailed performance and behavioral measurement that is used to optimize multiple services. We’re looking for a passionate data scientist to engineer data pipelines, ask and answer questions about the data (e.g. how many people watch what kind of content and what can you say about them?), architect machine learning processes, and optimize data use. 

The ideal candidate is experienced with big data, ML processes, SQL, python, Agile processes, microservice architectures, SaaS concepts. Experience with OTT video, ad insertion processes, JIRA, Confluence, DataDog, Snowflake, Databricks and AWS is advantageous but not mandatory. 

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to Wurl’s data processing and machine learning initiatives. 
• Identify and create quality metrics and data features.
• Build data models and advanced predictive mathematical models.
• Research diverse approaches to solving problems using behavioral data
• Drive A/B & multivariate tests and design of experiments to facilitate testing of new product and design features, with focus on improving engagement, retention, and conversion.
• Participate in the evolution of Wurl’s data management and analysis framework. 

Qualifications:

• 5+ years experience with python, other scripting languages, R.
• Robust understanding of statistics and advanced mathematics.
• Strong relational database (SQL) experience and data modeling.
• Spark/PySpark, Databricks a plus.
• Experience and confidence working with AI, including building ML models using frameworks such as MXNet, TensorFlow, PyTorch, SparkML, scikit-learn.
• Understanding of professional coding practices, versioning systems, bug tracking, documentation agile processes, etc.
• Experience with SaaS offerings/cloud infrastructure: AWS preferred. Containerization, serverless processes, microservice architectures, etc. 
• Big plus: experience with OTT streaming formats (HLS, DASH), SSAI architectures, ad management architectures.
• Using probability, statistics, predictive modeling, machine learning, or other quantitative methodologies to solve real-world TV delivery and advertisement problems.
• Effective communication skills and team player.
• Data pre-processing, visualization and data cleansing experience.
• Location: US remote.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
