If you’re passionate about innovation and love working in an environment where you can constantly improve and adopt new technologies to drive business results, then Nationwide’s Information Technology team could be the place for you!

** Open to this position being 100% remote WFH

Join the team which is helping to lead innovation at Nationwide in analytical, technical, and business capacities with many firsts at Nationwide.  An ideal candidate is passionate about both being technically advanced and delivering business solutions where you enjoy working directly with business users and managers, and receiving compliments for your results.

You should be working in an advanced analytics environment that is using the best technical products from streaming tools, Spark, Python, ML/AI tools, and Snowflake in AWS.  The business environment is one where you will have opportunities to work in combined business and technical teams or user groups to focus on delivering business solutions with substantial value.  You will get to see the “fruits of your labor” with both business and IT leader feedback, and not feel that you are disconnected from seeing tangible results.

The role is a poly skilled role so you can wear many hats from data analyst, designer, coder, and tester in the data engineering role so you can deliver high-quality solutions with velocity.  You will work in an agile team with a data product owner and with business stories so you have a good understanding of the business value desired. This role will have the creativity/ freedom to work with the business on how to design and build the business solution with some architectural guidelines.

A suitable background for this data engineering role is a current analytics solution builder, who has an IT background but may have also worked in a business department building analytical solutions directly for a business leader.  The technical background is someone who is currently a big data engineer or maybe working on legacy technologies such as Hadoop, and other environments where strong SQL or other programming language skills has been developed.  Nationwide offers extensive training to advance your skills from DataBricks and Python classes, and business training so you can advance your business and data expertise in a specific business domain like claims processing.  A $5K tuition reimbursement is also offered after one year so you can take university classes in AI, ML, or other areas of interest.

Nationwide currently has undertaken a massive analytics transformation program that will allow you to get in on the “ground floor” and become a key part of Nationwide’s analytical future.  You will have the opportunity to create new capabilities with little “legacy” or required enhancement of existing code.

Location flexibility exists and competitive compensation is offered with this exciting challenge and role.
