The Role

The Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AIML) foundation team of Alight is looking for a qualified data scientist with Natural Language Processing (NLP) experience.  We are looking for someone to analyze large amounts of raw text data to find patterns that will help improve our company and the solutions we provide to our clients.  We will rely on you to build data products to extract valuable business insights.  In this role, it is essential you are highly analytical, a critical thinker and a problem solver with a passion for machine learning. We’re a small team so you’ll need to be comfortable taking your ideas from theory into deployment.  You will need to understand the business opportunities, then understand, collect and prepare data for modeling, and finally build, evaluate and operationalize the models.

Key Characteristics

• Strong understanding of general AI/ML/DL concepts including but not limited to supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning
• Proven experience building, deploying and monitoring production models using NLP Techniques
• Self-driven and comfortable working without detailed direction - sometimes you’ll have to build the path yourself
• Able to identify and solve problems on your own
• Strong presentation and communication skills
• Intellectually curious with an ability to focus on what matters to the business
• Detail oriented

Education, Knowledge, Experience

• 3+ years building robust machine learning models in a production environment, understanding how to write production-ready code.
• Analytical mind-set – problem solving through analytical techniques that meet the rigorous standards of the data science industry.
• 3+ years’ experience in Python/R and Machine Learning (decision trees, multivariate and logistic regression, kNN, kMeans, NLP, Neural Networks etc.).
• 3+ year’s of experience with NLP and deep learning
• 5+ years’ experience in data analysis, applied statistics or econometrics in a business environment with large-scale, complex data-sets.
• GPT-3 or open AI experience is a plus.
• Strong communicator – articulating the commercial value of data and analytics to senior stakeholders/clients (internal & external) through data visualization and storytelling.
• Inquisitive – ability to dig into new and challenging datasets, uncovering pertinent and business relevant information.
• Experience in AWS Sagemaker Studio
• Experience with Spark and Spark-ML
• Expertise with Python, SQL, R and other leading programming and statistical applications
• Experience working with and manipulating large data sets, including Big Data tools and platforms (e.g. Hadoop)
• MS/PhD in a quantitative discipline
