About the role

To complement Starburst’s ability to access data anywhere, our goal is to make it easy for any data integration or business intelligence tool to connect to Starburst.  Our vision is that any data engineer or business analyst should be able to access and process data from any data source through the tool of their choice.  We are looking for a Python Engineer to help us make that a reality.  This role will allow you to directly contribute to the advancement of Starburst Enterprise and open source Trino. 

Responsibilities:

    • Design: Research and design integrations in the Python Ecosystem
    • Develop: Improve the Trino Python client, build custom integrations for tools like DBT and Airflow
    • Test: Implement test automation, design and write tests
    • Collaborate: Collaborate with teams globally across multiple time zones and operate in an Agile development environment

Some things we will look for:

    • At least 3 years of experience developing software
    • Experience writing Python production code (optional Java)
    • Hands-on experience with Python data tools like DBT, Airflow, Dagster and Great Expectations
    • Proficiency with SQL
    • Knowledge of SQLAlchemy and DBAPI
    • Experience with JDBC and ODBC integrations
    • An understanding of authentication mechanisms like LDAP, Kerberos, OAuth2.0
    • Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines
    • Experience working with one of the main cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
    • Comfortable with Linux and scripting languages
    • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and Python testing frameworks 

Bonus points:

    • Familiarity with Trino
    • Contribution to open source software
    • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
    • Experience working as Python Data Engineer
    • Knowledge of BI tools like Tableau, PowerBI, Looker
