About Found

The self-employed workforce is a rapidly growing, resilient, and colorful 60 million Americans. But self-employment comes with its own set of challenges: navigating taxes, accounting, bookkeeping, and business banking are just a few. That’s where we come in.

Found is building tools that give self-employed people the security and peace of mind that has historically only been possible at big corporations. We’re a business bank account that automates taxes and expense tracking because we believe small business owners should spend more time doing what they love and less time on their business finances.

We’re looking for kind, resourceful, and passionate people to join us in building the safety net for self-employment.

About this Role:

Thanks for your interest in Found! Our Data team is a full stack data organization of highly skilled data scientists, data engineers, and analysts. We’re responsible for everything from researching, training, and deploying ML models to detect and stop fraud in real time, to using data to inform the direction that our product teams should take on what to build next. We’re a small but experienced team that has worked on diverse and complex problems at companies like Uber, Netflix, and Spotify.

We’re excited to hire our first dedicated Analytics Engineer. You’ll be responsible for building and optimizing critical company data models, creating leverage for the data team and other stakeholders via structuring and documenting our data, and designing company-wide reporting. We’re looking for someone with high attention to detail, who’s proactive, and who is excited about diving-in early and taking ownership of our dbt project to help to create strong foundations for years to come.

Some of the exciting and impactful things we’ve already built include:

  • Payback projection data models that build LTV and payback curves by revenue source, signup channel, and day.

  • Our risk loss attribution and accounting logic–data models that define the entire flow from attributing risk loss to a specific transaction to identifying opportunities for recovery and estimating expected loss based on historical win rates.

  • User-level revenue and COGS events data models that power everything from our growth team’s ROAS tracking (their most critical metric) to predictive LTV machine learning models to exec reporting on monthly financial metrics pacing.

  • Models attributing and connecting user virality networks through multiple connection types and degrees of separation.

Day to day, you will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, accurate, and trusted data models.

  • Author clear and accessible documentation for our data warehouse for analysts and other stakeholders–making it clear where source-of-truth data lives and how it can be used.

  • Establish standards for our dbt project–including documentation, naming conventions, testing coverage,  etc.

  • Build and maintain select company-level dashboards to provide clear insight into performance to the entire Found organization.

  • Contribute to the development of best practices, standards, and frameworks for analytics engineering at Found.

To thrive in this role, you have:

  • 5-7+ years in Analytics Engineering (or similar roles)

  • Strong expertise with SQL, dbt, Jinja, and Python

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Proven track record of building highly complex data models and taking ownership of large portions (or all) of a dbt project.

You may also have:

  • Previous experience working at a fintech.

  • Previous startup experience.

  • Experience with bookkeeping or taxes and how it relates to self-employment.
