About The Role

The Senior Business Analyst will play an integral role in the design, monitoring, and ongoing optimization of our marketplace. The ideal candidate will pair a business mindset & strong problem-solving skills with the ability to design and execute rigorous data analyses. He/she should have natural intellectual curiosity and the desire to dig into complex data analyses to answer important business questions. This role will touch on many different aspects of the business, including data, finance, operations, and risk, and will require regular communication with a wide variety of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Define metrics to evaluate & optimize marketplace performance. 
  • Devise, build, and maintain dashboards & reports that can be used across functions to monitor key metrics. 
  • Analyze the results of AB tests and other experiments to inform product & engineering decisions
  • Identify where detailed data analyses can be helpful in understanding performance trends, answering real-time business questions, and identifying risks & opportunities.
  • Design and execute detailed data analyses (either self-directed or when requested by other team members); synthesize and communicate findings and recommendations to key stakeholders. 
  • Size the operational and financial impact of competing strategic opportunities, and provide guidance to team members on the highest impact opportunities for the business.
  • Empower team members to independently answer data questions by building high-quality, accessible datasets and training the team to use them. 
  • [Potential additional responsibilities, based on level of seniority and experience]: Support FP&A activities, which may include monthly/annual review of financial performance vs. forecast/budget, help maintaining budgets and forecasts, and periodic deep-dives into individual cost and revenue line items 

Requirements

  • 4+ years quantitative analytics experience
  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in math, analytics, finance, or other quantitative discipline 
  • Strong proficiency in SQL  
  • Strong proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau)
  • Demonstrated ability to build dashboards to track & analyze metrics and KPIs
  • Ability to identify critical business problems and create analytical/modeling solutions
  • Background in statistics and experimentation or acquired knowledge in this area
  • Ability to translate complex findings and results into a compelling narrative and communicate  to cross-functional partners of varying technical levels

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with various departments 
  • Ability to handle multiple projects from scoping to execution
  • Ability to identify where analysis can be helpful for driving impactful business decisions vs. where analysis is an inefficient use of limited team resources
  • Ability to work with disparate data to contextualize opportunities and their impacts
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Adapts well to a fast-paced working environment
  • Professional, positive, and approachable attitude
  • Some FP&A experience helpful, but not required
  • Some experience with routing software and delivery optimization problems helpful, but not required
