In a world where many social apps measure their success by time spent online, Raya is a technology company focused on providing utility. Our iOS only app is a tool for discovery of and access to exciting people, events, opportunities and recommendations globally. We believe that by marrying great software with a membership-based community built around core values of trust, creativity, and reciprocity, we can provide solutions that have heretofore been impossible.
Extracting insight from data is at the heart of our quest to serve our members, and we are looking for a hands-on leader for our Business Intelligence team so that we can provide accurate, timely and actionable insights to our Product Managers, Community leaders and executives.
The Business Intelligence team at Raya works hand in hand with our Product, Design & Engineering groups during all phases of the Product lifecycle. Key areas include exploratory data analysis, validating candidate features and app changes to inform planning, specifying the parameters of A/B tests, and portraying the results of the tests and calling winners based on the recommended criteria.
Additionally, the team is responsible for identifying and communicating all trends throughout the business, from short-term aberrations due to app changes to longer-term drifts in user behavior or psychology.
From a technical perspective, the Business Intelligence team owns transforming all data (once it enters Raya’s Snowflake data warehouse), as well as ultimately surfacing, visualizing and summarizing the data in our front-end reporting tools (Mixpanel & Mode). While the current data stack suffices for Raya’s present needs, it is likely that the Director will lead a migration to a more robust (e.g. dbt for transformations) and fully featured reporting front-end (e.g. Tableau or Looker) as our data usage matures.
Finally, the Director will be responsible for managing the team of Analysts (currently two people, with potential to expand as our data needs grow). This includes scoping out work, committing to timelines for the completion of analytics deliverables, coaching and developing the Analysts, and functioning as the hiring manager to define and execute any future hiring processes for the team. As the leader of a small team the ideal candidate would thrive in an environment where they spend the majority of their time making individual contributions.
