Capital Markets Gateway (CMG) is a financial technology firm that is modernizing the equity capital markets (ECM). CMG connects investors and underwriters via a neutral platform that delivers integrated ECM data and analytics, transparency, and workflow efficiencies. Providing a digital system of record for firm-wide deal activity, CMG helps clients make more timely, better-informed decisions. Launched in 2017 by a team of ECM practitioners, the CMG platform is currently relied upon by nearly 100 buy side firms representing $12 trillion in AUM and 15 investment banks.

 

CMG’s goal is to alleviate pain points resulting from disparate solutions, fragmented data and frenzied communication. CMG’s DataLab product solves for data analytics, while CMG’s XC platform establishes connectivity between buy- and sell-side firms.

 

At CMG, data engineers collect raw data from multiple sources and produce consumable packages for humans and machines. We automate solutions using modern software and DevOps practices. As part of the data team, you will help determine the right technology to evolve our current and future consumer-facing SaaS products.

 

You will work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver efficient, well-tested solutions to production. We love automation, CI/CD and high availability, so all of our production code goes through rigorous testing and code review. To make this happen, Engineering, Security and DevOps work together throughout the development lifecycle.

 

The right fit doesn’t always equate to the most experience. We are looking for candidates at varying levels of experience with an aptitude for data engineering and new technology.

 

 

Data engineering is a broad field and we do not expect you to know everything we do right away. You should have experience with several items on the list below and love learning new tools and processes.

 

·       SQL

·       Query Optimization

·       Data modeling (Using a star schema, slowly changing dimensions, long and wide data formats, knowing how to shape data for particular use cases)

·       Good experience with a scripting language like Python, Ruby or BASH.

·       Knowledge of at least one cloud database (Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query, etc.)

·       DevOps (Git, CI/CD, Azure, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, or similar tools)

·       Linux and working from the command line

·       Great research skills (Ability to select solutions and run POCs)

·       Experience automating ETL/ELT

·       Automating IT solutions

·       Software engineering

·       Business-intelligence tools like Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.

 

Our current stack is growing, and any direct experience is a plus.

Great communication skills are a definite plus, as is the ability to find clever solutions to difficult problems.
