Scholastic is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Data Engineer to join our Data and Analytics practice. The Engineer will be responsible for data architecture and pipeline design and must possess strong data modelling and query optimization skills. They will be building and maintaining data processing frameworks and will work closely with data science, visualization and analyst teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, build and maintain all facets of Data Pipelines for Data Engineering team.
  • Lead the development of ETL processes to integrate data from a wide variety of sources including S3 objects, Kafka, REST APIs, SQL Server
  • Refine and enhance the Python data management framework developed in-house
  • Adhere to and improve the established standards for design, development, and migration
  • Enhance the existing data centric CI/CD framework utilizing BitBucket and Jenkins
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key business sponsors and other IT teams to collaboratively solve complex problems
  • Ensure established standards are followed for code deployment between environments 
  • Be a strong influence in architecture design sessions and perform code reviews
  • Lead and mentor junior team members

Qualifications

HOW YOU CAN FIT    (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related Engineering field
  • 5+ years of Data Engineering or Data Lake Architect experience on the AWS platform
  • US citizen or permanent resident status required
  • Required experience
    • Deep knowledge of AWS Services such as S3, EMR, Redshift, DataPipeline, RDS, DynamoDB, STEP functions, Lambda
    • Advanced SQL knowledge for Redshift
    • ETL process design and implementation on AWS
    • Jenkins, Bitbucket, Webhooks
    • Containerized workload management using Docker or Terraform
    • Streaming data processing (Kafka).
