Senior Data Engineer

The Job

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will participate in the development of our Data Warehouse to consume batch and real-time data from our source systems and IoT devices. You will be responsible for building pipelines to gather data from Turntide devices, asset systems, and all our DW data sources, to link and integrate for a variety of internal and product-based uses. You will work hand-in-hand with our Product, Data Science and Engineering teams to build the pipeline from raw to curated data sets to drive business value and outcomes.

You should have strong analytical skills and the ability to gather insight from scarce data sources. We are a Python shop, and you should have strong skills in building pipelines in Python. Our product is a game changer in the way the world consumes energy, and in this role, you will need to be a game changer in always trying to identify the best most efficient and effective process for data ingestion, data pipeline implementations, as well as best practices and standardization of the entire data platform ecosystem.

Job Responsibilities

  • Act as subject matter expert in modeling data, defining and executing data pipelines that consider all use cases and help manage a balance of cost and efficacy of solutions.
  • Implement efficient data pipelines and drive best data practices for Turntide devices to drive business insight through data.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, automated data pipelines using SaaS and cloud technologies.
  • Incorporate the best  technologies into the platform to better solve data driven decisions.
  • Partner with various teams (Product, Data Science, and Engineering) to create value for our customers. 
  • Lead technical efforts and mentor team members on best practices.
  • Act as a stakeholder in Turntide mission, recommending new channels of insight and drive value to our customers through Data. 

The Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar experience; Master’s Degree is a plus.
  • (5-7)  yrs experience in hands on data engineering, consumption, building pipelines and gathering data to drive insights and outcomes 
  • Demonstrated abilities to analyze datasets of all size, drive insight and construct data product solutions
  • Experience in Data Warehouse design solutions 
  • Proven ability to build scalable data solutions using modern data approaches 
  • Hands-on knowledge with relational and non-relational datasets
  • Hands-on Experience in one or more of the following technologies ( Snowflake, dbt, Dataiku, fivetran, Keboola, Looker, Tableau, Dataiku, lightdash, Apache superset, K8s, Airflow) 
  • Proficiency with Python 
  • Proficiency in dbt / SQL
  • Ability to deconstruct a problem and reconstruct an approach with great reusability and data quality as key drivers
