Senior Data QA Engineer 

100% Remote (U.S. Based Only)

About the role

StyleSeat is growing very fast and we are in need of a Senior Data QA Engineer who will work closely with Data Engineers and other collaborators across the business, to help design and architect data quality systems.

What you’ll do

• Validate data pipelines and data processing jobs that collect data from disparate systems and store it in internal databases
• Design manual and automated test strategies, test plans and test cases for data pipelines
• Identify edge cases that can potentially break the data pipelines or compromise data quality or integrity
• Design automated test cases to ensure successful day-to-day operations of the data pipelines
• Track quality assurance metrics, such as defect densities and defect counts
• Create best practices for Data Engineers to be able to create their own unit test cases
• Participate in peer code reviews and be comfortable in writing high quality documentation

Who you are

Successful candidates can come from a variety of backgrounds, yet here are some of the critical experiences we’re looking for:

• Experience in validating data from multiple data sources and file types such as JSON, XMS, CSV and non-traditional data structures
• Knowledge of Python
• Confident SQL skills and the ability to dig into large sets of data to spot the inconsistencies
• Experience validating Data Pipelines, Data Warehouses or Database-focused code within a cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience with one or more automated test tools, such as PyUnit, Cypress, etc.
• Familiarity with one or more data programming languages and technologies such as SQL, SQOOP, Shell Scripting, Airflow, etc.

Some year 1 deliverables 

• Develop an automation suite that is able to perform quality checks on Relational and Analytical events data
• Develop an integration testing and release plan for Data Squads  

Success Metrics 

• 100% automation coverage for ETL processes

• Ability to clearly define data dependencies between Data and Product Squads
• Cross Collaboration with QA members and Data Engineers
• Detail Oriented and intent to document process and workflows
