Kit Check is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to help us refine and grow our suite of healthcare data products to further the company's mission of "Medication Intelligence". Our hospital and pharmacy customers rely on us to keep their patients safe and their pharmacies running smoothly while delighting them with every release. By streamlining their pharmacy's daily routines with our RFID inventory management solution and reducing risk and enhancing their compliance with our controlled substance tracking platform, we're committed to improving medication management for our nation's healthcare providers, and our data operations and products are the backbone of our offerings. 


The Opportunity

The central Data team is charged with driving the success of data science and analytics efforts at Kit Check by providing actionable insights, running predictive models, and building a core data infrastructure. We partner with cross-functional peers through all stages: identifying initial RnD projects, building and refining existing models, analyzing the impact of our efforts, and highlighting improvement areas. Ultimately, the team’s work strengthens Kit check and helps us move toward our suite of Medication Intelligence products. This is a fully remote (virtual) position and is a part of the central Data team.

You can expect to:

    • Formulate and lead data-driven projects geared toward furthering our medication intelligence strategy. 
    • Produce and disseminate non-technical reports that detail the successes and limitations of each project.
    • Suggest ways in which insights obtained might be used to inform business strategies.
    • Partner with our product teams to achieve goals around existing controlled substances models predictions as well as data consumer experiences.
    • Collate and clean data from various entities for use by Junior Data Scientists.
    • Delegate to other Data Scientists, while monitoring the performance of newer Data Scientists and providing them with practical guidance.
    • Selecting and employing advanced statistical procedures to obtain actionable insights.
    • Cross-validate and test models to ensure their generalizability 
    • Prepare models for production including improving automation and standardizations.
    • Stay informed about developments in Data Science and adjacent fields to ensure that outputs are always relevant.
    • Play a lead role in proposing new predictive models through analysis of behavioral and transactional data.
    • Transform raw data into meaningful and impactful analysis characterized by strong data governance, technique transparency, and quality documentation.
    • Raise the skill level of the entire analytics team through the creation of outstanding work, mentorship, and the introduction of better practices, processes, and tools.
    • Serve as a liaison between engineering, data, and non-technical audiences. This includes critiquing requirements, informing roadmaps, assessing risk, and presenting during customer-facing meetings. 

About you:

    • Qualified with a degree in data science, statistics, computer science, or similar.
    • Extensive professional experience at a minimum of two companies as a data scientist.
    • Proficiency in Python, including Jupyter notebooks, pandas, Scikit-learn, NumPy, SCIpy. 
    • Master-level understanding of SQL.
    • Outstanding team leadership and mentorship abilities. Demonstrable history of conceiving and overseeing data-centered projects.
    • Experience working with ETL tools, e.g. Stitch/DBT, data pipeline products, and MPP data warehouses like Redshift, Snowflake. 
    • Experience with Amazon Web Services. 
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to advocate technical solutions to fellow scientists, engineering teams, and business audiences to inform business decisions. 
    • Capacity to foster a healthy work environment that relies on teamwork between various data disciplines. 
    • Prior track record of guiding product teams to identify high-impact opportunities, set meaningful goals against key outcomes, and drive decisions
    • Specializations in sophisticated analyses and regularly use statistical methods in your work.
    • Ability to break complex problems into narratives that are concise, actionable to express your recommendations.
    • Acted as a mentor, guiding others to make their own work better and more efficient
    • Track record of dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing trade-offs, and delivering results in a very dynamic environment

Nice to have:

    • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in computer science, statistics, information systems, economics, mathematics, or similar
    • Multiple companies’ worth tenured experience working with large, complex datasets to create/optimize machine learning, predictive, forecasting, and/or optimization models.
    • Deep experience with both supervised learning methods (linear and logistic regression, time-series modeling, generalized linear models, decision trees, etc.) and unsupervised learning methods (K-means, clustering, etc.).
    • Experience with AWS Machine learning projects including Sagemaker.
