Kit Check is looking for a leader to help us redefine and grow our suite of healthcare data capabilities to further the company's mission of "Medication Intelligence". Our hospital and pharmacy customers rely on us to keep their patients safe and their pharmacies running smoothly while delighting them with every release. By streamlining their pharmacy's daily routines with our RFID inventory management solution and reducing risk and enhancing their compliance with our controlled substance tracking platform, we're committed to improving medication management for our nation's healthcare providers, and our data operations and products are the backbone of our offerings.

The opportunity:
Kit Check is growing rapidly and we’re creating a data team that brings together our data scientists, and a small and growing data engineering function. You’ll be leading a team that provides intelligence to our product teams, data products to customers, as well as building predictive models that power some of our core products. A successful candidate is a great people leader, a self-starter, has a track record of leading data teams that implement and operate Data services at scale, and collaborates across teams. Ideally, they come from either a data engineering or data science background as an IC. This is a unique position in that data is our product, and you’ll be leading the team tasked with analyzing our data, integrating the algorithms, and creating visualizations in production systems. This work will have a direct impact on hospital pharmacies, by providing actionable insights that reduce drug spend, increase medication safety and compliance, and maximize staff productivity.

You can expect to:

    • Hire top-tier engineering talent. You understand the importance of building an amazing team and its value.
    • Assist in technical design, data QA and ensure ease of use for the end-users
    • Assist in developing solutions to support the automation of ongoing reporting and analytical needs
    • Coach and guide the data team through regular feedback.
    • Vision: You intuitively understand business, analytics, and technology, and you leverage that to guide a team by providing relevant context and inspiration.

About you:

    • Prior experience in engineering management
    • You have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative or data-intensive field - Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar discipline
    • Former IC experience in either predictive modeling, machine learning, or data engineering
    • Fluent in creating visualizations and Business intelligence reports. Can advise the team on ideal communication methods for technical and non-technical audiences
    • Expert-level SQL (MySql, Redshift, Presto)
    • Proven prior experience leading inclusive and diverse teams, mentoring data scientists or engineers, and creating practices that help data teams mature
    • Great analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities in fast-paced environments
    • Passionate about, and knowledgeable in, distributed data processing patterns
    • Demonstrable EQ in communication and feedback that helps to build trust, resolve conflicts, and provide feedback
    • Ability to present results, in written and verbal mediums, to both non-technical and technical audiences
    • Experience with data reporting technologies (e.g Snowflake, RedShift, Data lakes) 
    • Instill a DevOps culture within teams, deliver mature systems that are highly available, resilient, and maintainable
    • A product and technical vision and a track record of cross-functional collaboration to build out that vision
    • Consistent record in unblocking teams and projects, delivering against a data team roadmap
    • Ability to draw insights from data and clearly communicate them (verbal/written) to cross-functional partners and senior leadership as required

Nice to have:

    • Experience in healthcare working with PHI or other sensitive data
    • Knowledge of hospital data systems (e.g. EHR, ADS, purchasing, etc.)
    • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical supply chain
    • Experience programming in Python, R, or other data-stack programming languages
