Position Summary:

The Senior Manager, Data Services leads the data engineering and business intelligence teams, helping the team grow technically and professionally. They collaborate with data science, software engineering, product management and other teams to deliver products, features, and data to our customers as well as partnering with leaders across Truckstop to answer business questions. The Senior Manager, Data Services leads and participates in strategic and tactical projects to improve data quality at Truckstop so that we can provide quality data at the point of need. They build productive, collaborative relationships across the enterprise and participate in key technical and design discussions as a hands-on manager.

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Manage data engineering, business intelligence, data warehouse, and data quality.  
  • Work closely with data science, product management, software engineering, and business teams to design, deliver, and manage our services with high resiliency, availability, quality, and performance.  
  • Collaborate with other leaders to develop and execute strategic data engineering and business intelligence roadmaps that includes business, product, and technical considerations.  
  • Manage tactical and strategic projects and effectively engage cross-functional teams to deliver impactful outcomes. Influence and help drive the team to success.  
  • Hire, mentor, and coach employees to develop best in class team.  
  • Manage employee competency, performance, and engagement.  
  • Advocate for innovation and drive continuous improvement.  
  • Create data engineering and data analytics practices, procedures and policies.  
  • Work with leaders from across Truckstop to leverage technology and share best practices.  
  • Manage troubleshooting, incident resolution, and root cause analysis. Implement solutions to mitigate and remediate systematic failures. Provide 24x7 support for engineering issues.  
  • Lead efforts to continually improve and automate our data engineering and data analytics processes.  
  • Other duties as assigned.   

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience required; Computer Science or Engineering preferred.   
  • 10+ years of combined data warehouse data engineering, business intelligence, or data quality experience.  
  • 7+ years experience managing people.   
  • Experience building and optimizing reliable, idempotent data pipelines (streaming or batch) using ETL tools such as FiveTran, Matillion, Apache NiFi, Spark, or similar.  
  • Experience with business intelligence and analytics platforms such as PowerBI, Tableau, DOMO, or similar. 
  • Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL Databases; MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, MongoDB, MySQL, and MariaDB.    
  • Experience with Snowflake or similar data warehouse. 
  • Experience with data quality, data transformation, data quality, and data catalog tools. 
  • Experience with data governance, data quality, and data catalog projects. 
  • Experience with AWS or Microsoft Azure.  
  • Project management experience.
