Guild is hiring a seasoned Senior Product Manager to help us develop world-class machine learning and data science solutions that can serve the needs of Guild members at scale.

As a Senior Product Manager at Guild, you will help to ensure achievement of Guild’s roadmap in service of our mission and company goals. In this role, you will lead planning across multiple squads to scale our ML + data infrastructure and deliver data solutions that support millions of Americans while they gain the skills and support they need to grow in their careers.

As a Senior Product Manager you will:

  • Become an expert in the end-to-end data science and ML model research/development process and a voice for stakeholders using these models to create meaningful product experiences. Your goal will be to ensure teams across Guild are using the right-sized data solutions to solve customer problems.
  • Work closely with fellow engineering, data science, and business leadership to define our vision, strategy and roadmap for Guild’s ML engineering, data infrastructure and data science needs.
  • Lead development across multiple data infrastructure, data science and ML engineering squads, conceiving and launching scalable, adaptable data solutions (and the corresponding infrastructure) that empower us to meet our growth goals.
  • Ask questions that help the team continuously improve our speed, accuracy and service quality outcomes.
  • Partner with internal customers throughout Guild, from Data Science practitioners to Product and Engineering teams responsible for delivering our offerings. Give them direction and support in crafting and overseeing product roadmaps that realize the most value from the ‘right sized’ ML or other data solutions.
  • Obsess about the right ways of measuring success and driving self-serve value.

You are a strong fit for this role if you have:

  • 6 years of experience in product management or a similar function; 3+ years direct experience leading squads building machine learning-powered features or related data products.
  • A natural curiosity! You want to understand what matters to the business and prioritize based on Guild’s broader objectives to help students at scale.
  • A drive for understanding, translating and communicating complex data science and ML concepts to audiences across an organization. You can explain (both verbally and in writing) the difference between the ML research/development lifecycle and the product development lifecycle; as well as ML Ops vs Data Ops.
  • A solid understanding of when machine learning is needed, when it is not, and why.
  • A solid understanding of the product development process and agile methodologies across both discovery and delivery.
  • A proven track record leading successful data and ML product delivery, especially under conditions of ambiguity and change. You guide those around you to sequence work effectively, make pragmatic decisions on what not to do, and deliver meaningful results on time.
  • Strong technical proficiency – be effective at using your technical depth and the voice of the customer to partner with and earn trust of a world-class Data and Engineering organization.
  • A demonstrated track record of working independently to drive outstanding business results, especially under conditions of ambiguity, high growth, and change.
  • Commitment to Guild’s mission to unlock opportunity for America’s workforce through education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • You have built data and ML-powered products for multi-sided markets serving distinct customers and personas.
  • You have multiple years of experience building products that leverage a modern data stack: AWS Sagemaker, MLFlow, Airflow / Dagster, Fivetran, dbt, Algolia / ElasticSearch, Looker / Tableau, Snowflake, Redis, DynamoDB, and Streamlit

We feel passionately about equal pay for equal work, and transparency in compensation is one vehicle to achieve that. Total compensation for this role is market competitive, including a base salary range of $150,000 - $195,000, as well as company stock options.
