About Opendoor
Founded in 2014, Opendoor’s mission is to empower everyone with the freedom to move. We believe the traditional real estate process is broken and our goal is simple: build a digital, end-to-end customer experience that makes buying and selling a home simple, certain and fast. We have assembled a dedicated team with diverse backgrounds to support more than 100,000 homes bought and sold with us and the customers who have selected Opendoor as a trusted partner in handling one of their largest financial transactions. But the work is far from over as we continue to grow in new markets. Transforming the real estate industry takes tenacity and dedication. It takes problem solvers and builders. It takes a tight knit community of teammates doing the best work of their lives, pushing one another to transform a complicated process into a simple one.  So where do you fit in? Whether you’re passionate about real estate, people, numbers, words, code, or strategy -- we have a place for you. Real estate is broken. Come help us fix it.

About the team:

We are looking for a Product Manager for our Machine Learning Platform team who can help us build the systems to improve and extend our machine learning products to at least 10x where they are today.

Machine learning and algorithmic products are core to everything that Opendoor does (The very first lines of code ever written at Opendoor were for an ML model for home pricing!) Today,  we use ML applications to buy and sell homes, manage our portfolio, and ensure safe, enjoyable customer experiences. With many product groups across the company building and deploying ML applications, the ML Platform team is at the core of ensuring consistency and quality across all ML products. The ML Platform team provides tools used by ML engineers and data scientists to access data in model-ready formats, train models, validate and deploy models, and monitor models in production.

Job duties:

    • Establish a vision for machine learning platform development and execution that benefits our entire company, helping us build world-class ML appliciations across domains including home pricing, search, anomaly detection, trust & safety, marketing - and more.
    • Work with and inspire a world-class engineering team
    • Partner closely with data scientists and ML engineers to understand their workflows and pain points around building and deploying ML applications
    • Identify and break down complex technical and business problems into solvable pieces; guide your team in making intelligent and pragmatic trade-offs and ensuring stakeholders understand the “what and why” behind your plan
    • Keep up-to-date on the best available third-party ML infrastructure tools, to help us make good build-vs-buy decisions and investment in the right open-source software.
    • Define and analyze metrics to track the performance of our ML tools

We're looking for teammates who have:

    • 4+ years product management experience, including delivery of entire products start to finish
    • 2+ years managing platform products (e.g. ML tools, data/analytics tools)
    • Prior experience building, deploying, and scaling ML models; experience with data processing technology (e.g. Spark, Hadoop) is a plus
    • Familiarity with core data science concepts and machine learning model pipelines/workflows
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Strong analytical skills; experience setting, monitoring, and improving key metrics; comfortable with SQL
    • Deep experience collaborating with data scientists, engineers, and analysts
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment
    • A strong sense of ownership for everything you ship
    • Candidates will be considered for a specific level (title) based on their experience
For CO Residents Only, and in accordance with C.R.S. Sec. 8-5-101 et seq., the estimated base salary range for this role is $115,000 - $203,000 per year.
