About this roll*: (Responsibilities)
The Senior Risk Strategy and Data Analyst will work across Toast’s fraud, merchant risk, and merchant compliance verticals to assess risks associated with new products or initiatives across the company, drive strategic approaches to fraud-centric problems, and analyze the current state of the team via dashboarding and queries. The primary responsibilities for this role include working cross-functionally with teams like Data Science and the Fraud Engineering Team to develop tools for the operational teams to leverage, and managing the overall fraud and risk data program, including creating and maintaining dashboards that provide insights and running ad-hoc analysis as necessary, with the help of a more junior analyst. In this role, you’ll achieve goals like driving automation and efficiency, protecting Toast against fraud and compliance threats, and enhancing the structure of fraud-related data at Toast.
What You Will Do:
- Assess new products and initiatives at a Toast-wide level to understand how they may pose a fraud or compliance risk
- Analyze potential approaches to problems within the Fraud and Risk Teams, and guide the team in the steps to solve them
- Mentor a more junior data analyst and disperse the Data Team’s workload appropriately
- Review data and operational procedures using a risk-based approach to minimize gaps in our fraud and risk program
- Work cross-functionally with data-based teams at Toast to ensure adequate access to data
- Explore internal data resources and options to build the most efficient procedures and new tables for fraud data analysis
- Liaise with Data Science and Engineering to drive automation efforts and build Fraud Data Science model to improve fraud detection efficiency and accuracy
- Work with Engineering to extract information and set up realtime alerts from raw event logs
- Ingest data from external vendors and coalesce with Toast data to analyze efficacy of vendors
- Integrate data from different sources and analyze large sets of transaction data to develop fraud mitigation strategy and provide product insights
- Build and enhance transaction monitoring rules by running ad-hoc analysis to minimize fraud loss while driving growth
- Create and maintain dashboards to monitor data as required for your role and requested by the team and other stakeholders
Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)
- 3-5 years of experience in data analysis, experience in fraud, risk, or payments is a plus
- Experience in a strategic role, not necessarily as the ultimate decision maker, but as a key stakeholder who contributed to an overall roadmap
- Very strong SQL skills, R and Python skills and experience with Looker and Snowflake are a plus
- Data driven, with a passion for efficiency
- Ability to explore new tools and build up data procedures from scratch
- An inquisitive nature, someone who wants to explore variances, and understand root causes
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, changing environment and adapt while focusing on key goals and objectives with minimal oversight
