Business Intelligence & Analytics at REI has been going through a transformational journey to enable the co-op to be a data driven organization. Along with a complete revamp of the entire analytical platform ecosystem which includes onboarding new solutions and migrating to Cloud, the team continues to enhance our already rich data platforms with additional data that helps to drive actionable insights across the Co-op. The team also develops new analytical products in the form of reports, Dashboards, domain specific datasets, and Data Science products to solve critical business problems. Our team of Architects, Engineers, Business Analysts, Project Managers and Data Scientists use technologies such as Snowflake, SAP BW, MongoDB, AWS Services, Tableau, Business Objects, Sigma Computing and programming languages like SQL, Python, R & Terraform to support multiple projects in data integration, analytics and data science.

As a Software Engineer for our Analytics Platforms, you will support cutting edge technologies that help every department at REI make better decisions using data. You will act as a developer – creating outputs for myriad teams to understand their business better, an enabler – helping our consumers best leverage our tools, and an administrator – ensuring that our tools can support the needs of our partners. Responsibilities

  • Develop business focused solutions, including dashboards, that help our partners understand their data better
  • Administer REI’s Analytics Platforms, including Tableau, Business Objects and Sigma. This includes user setup, scripting for automation, troubleshooting errors, performing system upgrades, etc.
  • Ongoing support of BI developed reporting assets, including dashboards, reports or scripts. This may include on-call shifts
  • Provide technical assistance and problem resolution for our analytics platforms. Resolve production support problems in accordance with problem management policies and procedures.
  • Liaison with analytics vendor partners to provide better solutions to our end users
  • Prepares periodic and ad hoc status reports for each assignment for department manager and project manager
  • Identify and provide recommendations for system process improvements
  • Write technical documentation for custom solutions following accepted norms
  • Consult with Quality Assurance and business analysts in the development and execution of test plans.
  • Develop training documentation for onboarding of new users
  • Collaborate with the Product managers and Stakeholders to understand analytics needs, iterate and refine requirements and develop products that meet the goals.
  • Adhere and contribute to development best practices, version control and deployment strategies to ensure product quality, agility, and recoverability.
  • Work closely with Production Support team to ensure comprehensive transition of developed products and provide ongoing Subject matter expertise and support.
  • Explore and learn the latest developments in AWS, Database platforms, Analytics toolsets and programming languages to introduce new capabilities to the team and identify opportunities to refine and improve the current solutions.
