Makers of the first Destination Operating System, Zartico harnesses and streamlines complex data to provide a full spectrum of data science, benchmarking, and analytical services for use in marketing, community development, and sustainability efforts. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Zartico has over thirty years of experience in technology, tourism, and destination, travel, and tourism marketing.

Zartico is looking to add a Data Architect to the team. In this role, Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Help manage, store and secure our cloud-based data. You will work with upper-level management, data engineers, data scientists, product managers, and other relevant professionals to assess data needs and create systems that help us optimize our data. Your duties will include:

  • Evaluating current cloud based databases, storage, and architecture to plan what changes, upgrades and improvements that need to made

  • Creating models and plans for data

  • Coding and designing databases

  • Ensuring all data is secure and backed up

  • Setup and monitor data security policies

  • Ensuring data structures comply with all local, state, federal and industry standards and regulations

  • Monitoring database and storage, and set up feedback systems to refine, tune, and constantly improve

  • Writing and establishing procedures for database management

  • Researching new techniques, software and products that could improve our data-related functions

  • Working with product teams to create models before product launches

To be successful in this role, you will need a strong background in Data Engineering, specifically Python, SQL, and Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, GoogleCloud Storage, Airflow). In addition to needing the ability to problem-solve effectively, you will need to have strong written and oral communication skills.

What You’ll Do:


  • Lead Data Engineers on your team as you design and implement solutions for our backend data.

  • Collaborate with the product team to define high-level requirements for product development.

  • Coordinate 1-on-one meetings with individual team members on a biweekly basis to assess needs, performance, concerns, and questions.

  • Work with your team to effectively use, optimize, and automate processing pipelines, as well as explore new technologies to meet the expanding needs of our products.

  • Experience working as part of a Scrum team and familiarity with Scrum team ceremonies such as a daily stand up, backlog refinement, sprint retrospectives, sprint reviews, and sprint planning.

  • You will be working with and reporting directly to our VP of Engineering.


What you’ll bring :

You will need 5+ Years of experience as a Data Architect with a fluency in SQL and programming languages, specifically Python, C, C++, or Java. Experience with developing high performance  Data Warehousing, Data Marts, Data Mesh, and Data Lakehouse architectures are important.  Experience with Google BigQuery and Cloud SQL, Data Lakehouse Engine, PostgreSQL is preferred.  Understanding architecture for developing high performance, low latency applications is essential.  A history of designing systems for Big Data (Petabytes) is important.   You will work with data engineers, data scientists, and product managers.  The ability to effectively design systems and communicate with stakeholders is especially valuable.

Education and Certifications:  BA/BS in computer science, computer engineering, or informational technology.  Coursework in database systems, data management, operating systems, technology architecture and systems analysis is desirable.
