This will be a hybrid position based out of the Banfield Pet Hospital headquarters in Vancouver, WA. Remote candidateswho meet all requirements may be considered​.

Salary Range: $100,531 - $138,230 (DOE)

Summary and Qualifications:

Design and build data solutions to enable self-service reporting through BI toolset.

Analyze, document, and develop secured and maintainable data integration solutions, supporting daily operations to ensure SLAs are met.

Essential Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
  • Build and maintain ETL scripts and workflows.
  • Data integration, design, and development.
  • Design and build relational and dimensional data layers that support existing and future BI and Integration tools, including Business Objects, Power BI, Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks, and niche tools. Provide data solutions for the business reports.
  • Partner with business stakeholders and business analysts to obtain clarity on the requirements for workable backlog items and support documentation.
  • Provide on-call support in rotation. 
  • Create design and requirement documentation.
  • Use best practice development life cycle for integration development.
  • Create and maintain standards for integration and database development.
  • Create Unit and end user testing strategies.
  • Perform analysis and provide insight into potential process improvement and performance tuning.
  • Maintain and upgrade key software components.
  • Collaborate with IT and business team members to achieve practice goals.
  • Act as an internal consultant to BI power developers in the business community.
  • Mentor junior developers on the team.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Special Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time. 
  • Project timelines and work volume/deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job.
  • Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems involving several variables.
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate necessary equipment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.
  • Environment where pets are present.

Experience, Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Database Development, Data Warehousing, or a related field is preferred, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Eight years of experience in Database Development, Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, and/or Business Intelligence are required.
  • Experience with either Sap Data Services or SSIS, PL/SQL or TSQL, and Oracle or SQL Server is required.
  • Demonstrated experience with one of the following is preferred: Azure Databricks, Synapse, Python.
