We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior-level Data Scientist with expertise in leveraging AI/ML to enhance forecasting solutions and drive business decision-making. As a key member of our tech SaaS company specializing in retail software solutions, you will be responsible for developing and implementing cutting-edge AI/ML models and algorithms to enhance our grocery retail solutions. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of hands-on experience in the field, a strong background in AI/ML, and a proven track record of delivering successful ML-driven solutions in business domains.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement advanced AI/ML models and algorithms tailored to grocery retail and forecasting, with a focus on demand forecasting, inventory management optimization, and pricing.
  • Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that drive business performance and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, product managers, and domain experts, to define project requirements and deliver solutions that meet business objectives.
  • Be a major contributor to end-to-end data science projects, from problem formulation and data collection to model development, evaluation, and deployment.
  • Continuously monitor and improve the performance of AI/ML models through iterative testing, optimization, and validation.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI/ML technologies, tools, and techniques, and identify opportunities to apply them to improve our grocery retail software solutions.
  • Communicate complex findings and technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including presentations, reports, and visualizations.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • At least five years of experience in data science roles, with a focus on the application of AI/ML to forecasting and business decision-making.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, along with experience working with data manipulation and analysis libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy) and machine learning frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, caret, PyTorch).
  • Extensive experience with cloud-based frameworks (Azure or AWS) and data applications (Data Factory, Databricks, etc.)
  • Strong proficiency in SQL with a data science orientation
  • Extensive hands-on experience in developing and deploying AI/ML models for business applications, such as demand forecasting, inventory optimization, pricing optimization, customer segmentation, or recommender systems.
  • Solid understanding of LLM AIs with strong proficiency in prompt engineering.
  • Solid understanding of statistical modeling and machine learning algorithms (e.g., regression, classification, clustering)
  • Proficiency in data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques, as well as experience with data visualization tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate business requirements into data science solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects, while also collaborating effectively with team members.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Education:

  • While sufficiently qualified candidates will be considered regardless of educational background, preference will be given to candidates with a four-year degree in information technology or a post-graduate degree in a quantitative discipline.

  • This is a fully remote position (preferably in Utah or Texas –Austin)
