We’re looking for a Sr Director, Data Science and Analytics to help us grow and evolve our centralized Data Science and Analytics team.  The team works closely with strategic teams across Webflow; help to understand the complex questions facing the business and use data to guide strategic decisions. Our data informs us of how well we are progressing on our mission to empower people to build software visually. This team develops our connected understanding of capabilities and customer experience, promoting a centralized source of truth and building stakeholder partnerships to improve data literacy and inform Webflow’s strategy. The team creates data science and analytics and frameworks that provide scalable, accurate, and accessible information for anyone in the company to consume so we can make data informed decisions, track progress towards our goals, experiment and innovate with our product. As our data and organization matures, we are looking for a leader who can balance ownership of a strong, reliable data foundation with an eye for opportunity, setting a strategic vision that will scale our data capabilities to improve our product for our customers.

As a Sr Director, Data Science and Analytics you’ll … 

  • Lead Webflow’s Data team, comprised of data scientists, data analysts, and analytics engineers, to shape a data literate culture
  • Empower stakeholders to make data-informed decisions and roadmaps; align data partnerships within Webflow, guiding stakeholders with analysis and quantitative research and improving data literacy
  • Provide clear understanding of business drivers across teams including sales, marketing, product, and finance unlocking opportunities for growth and development
  • Define KPIs and metrics that map closely to business levers
  • Expand team strategy, identifying and executing high value data science and analytics opportunities where data can help drive Webflow’s mission and improve customer experience.
  • Strengthen data foundation, working cross-functionally to manage and evolve data architecture with business needs
  • Engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization, presenting data strategy to Sr Leadership, Investors and Board
  • Focus the data team on a high-value roadmap, balancing competing requests and high priority investigations with long term vision.

About you 

You’ll thrive as Sr. Director, Data Science and Analytics if you have:

  • Successfully attracted, developed, retained, and led high performing, cross-functional data teams at scale with 4+ years of experience managing data analysts, scientists, and/or engineers
  • A passion for and track record of leveraging data to understand and drive impact, especially in a SaaS environment
  • Ability to drive operational improvement across data science & analytics excellence, balancing creativity with measurable outcomes that align with the needs of a dynamic organization
  • Strong understanding of the modern data stack and a track record of scaling data products to match organizational needs. We use fivetran/snowflake/dbt/tableau and are exploring adding machine learning pipelines, improving BI solutions and working with data engineering on new near-real time streaming pipelines.
  • Experience identifying and prioritizing business needs, scoping business questions into well formed data projects. 
  • Ability to write complex and performant SQL queries to extract data and coach teams in analyzing complex data sets
  • Experience navigating stages of data maturity, from building a reliable source of truth to leveraging machine learning to drive decisions at scale.  
  • Ability to collaborate with and brief senior leaders with a wide range of technical understanding of data intelligence and data science
  • Identified ability to create data-driven business decisions
  • Ability to influence paired with strong stakeholder engagement skills that span both up and downstream
  • A track record in applying advanced analytics solutions to solve real-world business problems
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to interact with and communicate with all level of employees and partners, and present information and recommendations to Sr Leadership, Investors and Board
  • Collaborative leadership, professional focus, and drive, comfortable directing the work of others and championing change
  • Ability to juggle competing priorities and maintain the team’s focus on high-value deliverables

Added bonus (but not required): 

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, R, Java, Scala, Rust, Go or C/C++
  • Extensive experience with a cloud platform (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Experience with big data technologies like Spark & Kafka
  • Experience working with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipeline
