Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence and Data Manager Analytics Operations to join our Data & Decision Science organization.  The Senior Manager’s primary role is to lead and develop a high performing team that is focused on serving our Data Science and CRM team’s data needs to enable them to move the business forward. The Senior Manager is also expected to develop a rich understanding of the data needs and new data opportunities that better equip our Data Science teams to deliver business changing insights to Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution and Disney General Entertainment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in working with product & engineering teams, business intelligence tools, best practices of standardized reporting, identity management, modern data & data science infrastructure, and large structured & unstructured datasets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strong thought leadership, mentorship, and support of team members and engineering partners.

  • Participate in and lead engineering and data science/BI sprint ceremonies

  • Deliver new datasets and quantitative capabilities through product and engineering to enable the Data Science teams to more effectively and efficiently create new, different, and impactful data driven insights for the business to leverage as a strategic business asset and driver of incremental revenue opportunities across media (ABC, Freeform, DCWW, FX, NatGeo, and ESPN), Film Studios, Streaming, and Ad Sales.

  • Deliver new dash boarding, standardized reporting needs, and data asset investigation/documentation for the Data Science teams.

  • Continuously drive toward efficiency by simplifying and automating where possible, eliminating redundancy across the organization, refining data structures, and building data views as needed to support higher team productivity.

  • Develop effective relationships with business partners and peers across segments – including product, project, and engineering teams to better understand data initiatives and capabilities across the company

  • Assure quality and accuracy of deliverables through thorough interaction with product managers and engineers to understand and refine requirements and adherence to privacy, governance, and quantitative standards.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience leading and building teams.

  • 3+ years of business facing experience that includes building relationships with new business partners, project request intake, and presentations. Experience delivering executive level presentations is preferred.

  • 6+ years of experience with BI Tools (Tableau, Looker, etc.), SQL, and automation technologies with an aptitude to learn other technical applications quickly to compile and interpret quantitative data.

  • Experience in documentation of code and data assets including metadata through infobase tools such as Confluence

  • Experienced and comfortable in Agile work environment (Scrum, Kanban, etc)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience directly supporting data science team data and technical needs.

  • Experience working with marketing and response data from various media channels, including television, social media, online video, search, email, mobile, and SMS.

  • Experience working with video stream and linear viewership data.

  • Experience working with digital and mobile data, including online behavior tracking, video players, and apps.

Required Education

  • Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or equivalent/related degree.
