Position Summary 

HackerOne is seeking a Staff Data Scientist for Product, DataOne to build and optimize data products and solutions, collaborate with Product as a trusted strategic partner, uncovering new ways to improve products and drive growth, as well as define, implement, and operationalize new feature, product, and company metrics from scratch, forecasting, and setting targets to drive accountability. Joining our growing, distributed organization, you'll be instrumental in building the foundation that democratizes source of truth information and insights to enable all Hackeronies to ask the right questions, tell cohesive stories and make rigorous decisions.

As a Staff Data Scientist, you'll be a cross-functional force multiplier, autonomously determining where to apply focus, contributing at all levels, elevating ambitions, and designing solutions to ambiguous business challenges. Leveraging your extensive technological expertise, domain knowledge, and dedication to business objectives, you'll drive innovation to propel HackerOne forward.

Your Journey at HackerOne

Your first day will start with a warm welcome and technical onboarding!

  • Your first 30 days will focus on getting to know HackerOne. You will join your new squad and begin onboarding - learn our technology stack (Python, Airflow, Snowflake, DBT, Meltano, Fivetran, Looker, Amplitude, AWS), and meet our Hackeronies.

  • Within 60 days, you will deliver impact across DataOne and Product with consistent contribution to building and optimizing data products and solutions, as well as uncovering new ways to improve products and drive growth.

  • Within 90 days, you will drive the continuous evolution and innovation of data and products at HackerOne, identifying and leading new initiatives. Additionally, you foster cross-departmental collaboration to enhance these efforts.

After 90 days, you will:

  • Deliver impact by consistently contributing to building and optimizing data products and solutions, uncovering new ways to improve products and drive growth, as well as defining, implementing, and operationalizing new feature, product, and company metrics from scratch, forecasting, and setting targets to drive accountability.

  • Be a cross-functional force multiplier, autonomously determining where to apply focus, contributing at all levels, elevating ambitions, and designing solutions to ambiguous business challenges.

  • Drive continuous evolution and innovation, adoption of emerging technologies, and implementation of industry best practices.

  • Champion a higher bar for discoverability, usability, consistency, validity, uniqueness, simplicity, completeness, integrity, security, and compliance of information and insights across the company.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years experience as a Data Scientist, Data Analyst, Product Analyst, or similar quantitative role w/ proven track record of collaborating with Product as a trusted strategic partner, uncovering new ways to improve products and drive growth.

  • 8+ years of experience building and optimizing data products and solutions.

  • Extensive experience defining, implementing, and operationalizing new feature, product, and company metrics from scratch, forecasting, and setting targets to drive accountability. 

  • Strong proficiency in SQL for data manipulation.

  • Strong proficiency in creating compelling data stories using data visualization tools such as Looker, Amplitude, Tableau, Sigma, Domo, or PowerBI. 

  • Proven track record of having substantial impact across data and product organizations, demonstrating your ability to drive positive change and achieve significant results.

  • HackerOne is a digital-first company. This model offers our employees flexibility in time and location. All employees must be able to work and excel in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in at least one data programming language such as Python or R.

  • Extensive experience proposing, designing, and running rigorous experiments with clear insights and product recommendations.

  • Extensive experience leveraging deep domain expertise to influence product strategy. tech roadmap, and investment decisions.

  • Experience designing advanced data visualizations and data-rich interfaces in Figma or equivalent preferred.

  • Experience working with various data technologies and tools such as Airflow, Snowflake, Meltano, Fivetran, DBT, and AWS preferred.

  • Proven track record of driving innovation, adopting emerging technologies and implementing industry best practices.

  • Passion for working backwards from the Customer and empathy for business stakeholders.

  • Thrive on solving for ambiguous problem statements in an early-stage environment.

  • Excellent communication skills, and can present data-driven narratives in verbal, presentation, and written formats.

  • Experience working with Agile and iterative development processes.
