As a Staff Data Architect, you’ll have the opportunity to develop and scale our real-time data services that are used to inform all aspects of the business and our products.
The ideal candidate for this position is someone who relishes the opportunity to streamline how we move data and help bring a torrent of information to the fingertips of our staff and users
What you’ll get to do
- Lead a team of data engineers working on some of Mothership’s most critical data challenges
- Collaborate with product and analytics teams to establish consistent data models and help refine existing systems to conform
- Establish data contracts and management systems that enable teams to work effectively with rapidly evolving data schemas
- Implement methods and procedures for acquiring, storing, and providing access to diverse real-time data from across the business
- Build for scalability as we rapidly expand our data systems and product
What success looks like in this role
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science or equivalent
- Expert level knowledge of MQ, SQL, and NoSQL datastore technologies
- Significant experience developing data services in production environments
- A strong product mindset with a passion for building real-time streaming data systems that directly impact the customer experience
- Experience with distributed data systems like Apache Spark
- Experience with Python, Scala, Golang, or another programming language in development of production data pipelines
- Experience working in a fast paced and execution-focused environment
- Understanding of data modeling techniques and warehousing methodologies
- Recent hands-on experience with pub/sub technologies like Apache Kafka or other event-based systems
- Ability to communicate complex technical information to both professionals and non-specialists
