About the role:
We’re looking for a highly skilled Tableau Developer for our People Business Operations & Analytics team. This is a great role for a creative problem solver who wants to have a big impact on the future of Samsara. This role will work directly with leaders in our People Experience and Recruiting organization to define metrics and reporting, provide analytical support, develop mechanisms to inspect efficiency, and play a crucial role in developing our analytical forecasting capabilities. This person will be responsible for ensuring our leaders have access to the accurate, quality data that drives decision-making across the organization.
This role is open to candidates residing in Canada and the US except Alaska, Austin metro, California, Chicago metro, Connecticut, Dallas metro, Denver metro, Houston metro, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, and Washington DC metro.

In this role, you will:
- Create compelling visualizations and reports using Tableau and other tools to communicate findings and insights to business leaders.
- Perform data and trend analysis to track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and inform strategic decision-making for Samsara Leadership.
- Analyze and interpret large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
- Drive the collection of new data; improve and refine existing data sources through automation. Drive projects to improve data quality.
- Partner with stakeholders across the People team, Finance & Strategy, Sales Operations, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements, develop strategies to meet data needs, and provide design documents for implementation.
- Communicate regularly on program/project plans, progress, blockers, and risks to cross-functional stakeholders and sponsors.
- Quickly solve process pain points in the moment. Identify opportunities for long-term process optimization and redesign, manage implementation of new processes or policies, and develop measures of success.

Minimum requirements for the role:
- Technical or Business degree or equivalent.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in a business intelligence and/or data analyst role, with a proven track record of delivering quality dashboards and/or actionable insights
- Advanced Tableau knowledge and experience in creating interactive and visually pleasing dashboards for consumption by non-technical stakeholders
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to think creatively to identify solutions to complex problems
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Ability to communicate complex findings in a clear and concise manner to business leaders and stakeholders. Strong data visualization and storytelling skills are a must
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
An ideal candidate also has:
- Specific coursework in information systems, statistics, programming, or data science
- Ability to manipulate large datasets programmatically with SQL
- Familiarity with Databricks and/or the medallion architecture design model for data warehousing
- Knowledge of standard People analytics metrics (ex: hire, promotion, transfer, & attrition rates)
- Familiarity with statistical analysis techniques, such as regression analysis, time series analysis, and hypothesis testing
