Hi, we’re Gravie. Our mission is to improve the way people purchase and access healthcare through innovative, consumer-centric health benefit solutions that people can actually use. Our industry-changing products and services are developed and delivered by a diverse group of unique people. We encourage you to be your authentic self - we like you that way.

Gravie is Growing! In this newly created role, you’ll take what we’re doing - creating a health plan people will love – and apply actuarial analysis across the company to help us achieve our goals. You’ll thrive in this role if the idea of being an “Actuarial watch dog” in a high growth unstructured environment excites you! This will be a unique opportunity to disrupt the status quo and lay down the train tracks as the train is moving (i.e. you get to build things yourself!).

You will:
·       Assist in developing, maintaining and/or review pricing, projection and underwriting models relating to self-funded medical and stop-loss insurance and reinsurance, and other related coverages/products.
·       Support monthly loss reporting data, analysis and presentation updates/roll-forwards.
·       Assist with quarterly IBNR data collection, calculation and analyses.
·       Assist with miscellaneous data collection and/or data entry, data manipulation, analyses, etc.
·       Support exploratory analysis to investigate causes, effects, driving factors, and other key business insights.
·       Assist with technical reviews of model/tool-development prototypes.
·       Develop Actuarial Value calculations.
·       Support the actuarial, finance, underwriting, product strategy, finance and other areas within Gravie with actuarial analyses and/or modeling as requested.
·       Use your coding knowledge to partner with Data Science in the machine-learning model/tool-development process, work on data retrieval and support our model-automation process using VBA tools.
·       Demonstrate commitment to our core competencies of being authentic, curious, creative, empathetic and outcome oriented.

You bring:
·       Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
·       2-5 years of substantial experience supporting health actuarial functions
·       Basic experience with SQL, Python, Java, VBA and/or other programming languages
·       2+ actuarial exams passed and seeking credentials
·       A successful track record of taking an idea on how to improve a process and executing on it
·       Curiosity in the story behind the numbers and how that story impacts the broader business
·       Comfort and skill in communicating broad and complex concepts to a diverse audience
·       Ability to thrive in an unstructured environment that is constantly maturing and evolving
·       A creative and consultative approach, with an interest in thinking outside of the box, with the ability to balance and prioritize multiple critical projects

Extra credit:
·       Previous start-up company experience

Competitive pay is standard. Our unique benefits program is the gravy (i.e., the special sauce that sets our compensation package apart). In addition to standard benefits, Gravie’s package includes alternative medicine coverage, flexible PTO, up to 16 weeks paid parental leave, paid holidays, cell phone reimbursement, education reimbursement, and 1 week of paid paw-ternity leave just to name a few.
