About Trevor

The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ young people. We are a non-profit that provides 24/7 life-saving support via phone, text, and chat. We also operate the world’s largest safe space social networking site for LGBTQ youth and run innovative research, education, and advocacy programs. We’ve been saving lives every day for over 20 years.

Overview of the role

As the Analytics and Business Intelligence Manager, you will support the Organizational Performance Director in enabling the usage of data to inform decisions and strategic direction, both at the org level as well as the team level. You will work closely with technology and service teams to advance internal data insights, literacy, and performance management reporting. You will be instrumental in ensuring Organizational Performance metrics are measurable, accurate, and transparent. Designing and operationalizing an overall ABI roadmap will be a large part of your responsibility. You will oversee a team of data analysts, ensuring data analyses and insights are enabling our teams to better reach their goals. You will have the opportunity to engage all teams across Team Trevor, with a particular focus on work connected to Trevor’s life-saving crisis services program.

Who you are

  • Action-oriented. You know how to get things done. You can move quickly and smartly. You love to set challenging goals and then develop plans to deliver and achieve them.

  • Technical and Strategic. You know enough about data to do some damage, but your current strength lies in how to transform an organization along its data maturity curve.

  • Collaborative. You will be juggling tasks from multiple teams with multiple needs. You care deeply about cross-functional collaboration and ownership.

  • Big Picture Thinker. You are someone who thinks strategically. You love to brainstorm and come up with big bold ideas, but also know the “how”. You look at the way things are and then imagine multiple ways they can be improved, with the ability to map dependencies and impacts.

  • Organized and Efficient. You know how to manage complex projects. You can communicate clearly and concisely. The moment you see a problem, you quickly come up with solutions and then implement them.

  • Effective Communicator. You understand the criticality of clear, transparent communication, both written and verbal, especially as it relates to data literacy.

  • Analytical. You know how to crunch data in technical data systems and create compelling stories. You are comfortable with numbers and you know how to use them to get results.

  • Passionate. You care about LGBTQ youth. You care about saving lives. You want to come to work and feel inspired every day. You want to change the world.

  • Fun. The work we do is very serious, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have fun. We know how to have a good time and you should too.

What you’ll do

  • Work closely with Director of Org Performance in defining and refining Trevor’s strategic roadmap in BI / reporting maturity growth

  • Ensure data enables accurate measurement of Org Performance metrics and overall goal-tracking

  • Increase access, definition, and understanding of data - identify and manage a backlog of needs related to increasing data insights, literacy, and performance management reporting

  • Be a thought partner / leader in how teams can utilize data to make proactive and strategic decisions towards their team and org goals

  • Shift the organization towards a fully integrated culture of data and insights specifically focused on measuring results and driving action, instead of siloed and uncoordinated “pulling of numbers”

  • Manage a team of data analysts to ensure data insights are effectively supporting decision-making and analysis related to internal operations and performance as well as external-facing communications

  • Work closely with tech and product teams to identify, solution, and test areas that require greater automation and process definition while balancing constraints and dependencies

  • Ensure processes and tools are in place to manage the requests for data analyses / insights and reporting, ensuring flow of prioritization across the entire data pipeline

  • Flag and understand risks and associated impacts related to data, with the ability to escalate and facilitate decision-making when necessary

  • Work closely with the “Manager of Organizational Performance, Goal Management” to ensure data issues / risks are backed with data whenever possible

  • Prioritize initiatives, solutions, and issues / risks, ensuring vertical and horizontal visibility

  • Communicate clearly and concisely on data-related metrics and reporting, both in writing and verbally

  • Meet regularly with teams to assess data-related initiatives, gaps / needs, issues, and priorities

  • Generous vacation and holidays (like a full day off to celebrate Harvey Milk Day!), including three half-day Fridays during the summer

  • Comprehensive health insurance (we pay 100% of your premiums for medical, dental, and life), including gender affirmation surgery

  • Flexibility to work from anywhere in the U.S. (we provide the technology, a monthly internet stipend and reimbursement to outfit your work-from-home space!)

  • Fun virtual office environment and passionate team

  • Online Subscription to Headspace, a digital meditation platform

  • The Trevor Project is an equal opportunity employer

  • Meaningful work at an organization that is saving the lives of LGBTQ young people across America every day
